Looking for an easy-to-use, stylish, and affordable gigabit Ethernet network switch? Look no further than the Netgear GS608 8-port Gigabit Ethernet Switch.
An update on using Jumbo Frames (> 1514 bytes per frame) with this product. According to the Netgear site the V1 version of this (non-firmware upgradeable product) did NOT support Jumbo packets.
Compared to other inexpensive 5-port and 8-port gigabit ethernet switches out there, this one looks great, and has a small, light and energy-efficient switching-mode power supply (a nice touch). It is trivial to set up (it's an unmanaged switch... there's nothing to configure).
Works great, gives me much needed network ports. Fast. Small and shiny. Pretty compact for 8 ports. Numbered lights on front display different colors based on 100Mbit or Gigabit.
one of the best networking switch i have used just plugged it in and that was it evrything just works my printer network hard disk my wireless media sharing centre.
This switch has been a great addition to my network . It allows for fast transfer sppeds and i have been using for over 3 months now with no problems. Unluckily it is not wall mountable which would have been useful, but it comes with some legs which can be used to stand it on its side.
Sleek; small; easy to use
Not wall mountable
There's not much really to say about this product, it works exactly as it should really. The Netgear GS08 is a great choice to add some extra ports to your home network inexpensively.
Silent; Easy to setup and use; Inexpensive
None really
Just installed this product, delighted! Everything sets up as it should, no problems (1 Caveat though - see below). Of course, Gigabit networking makes all those Multimedia file transfers sooooo much faster.
Contrary to one of the other reviews, this is a switch, not a router. I have had mine for a while (longer then the warranty) and have had at least one port go bad. Others seem to continue to work. I have both 1GB and 10/100 devices connected.
1GB
1 port failed
