DJI Mavic Air
Excuse the pun, but drone photography is taking off! DJI's Mavic Air is one of the more popular models for drone photography, and for a few very good reasons.
Fold It Up, Carry It Away
One of the great advantages of the Mavic Air is its foldability and portability. The drone is described as "ultraportable" drone which can be folded up and put into a backpack, or even a large pocket.
Portable But Panoramic
Dramatic panoramas are easier than ever to create. The Mavic Air can stitch together 25 photos in eight seconds to make super-sharp 32 MP Sphere panoramas.
Smooth And Clear Images
The 3-Axis Gimbal & 4K Camera offers a vibration range reduced to a minuscule 0.005°. In other words, shaky and blurry shots are a thing of the past. The 4K camera can record at 30 fps, capture HD video at 120 fps, and take 12-mp still shots.
Safer And Better Flying
All that photographic wizardry is at risk if flight safety is compromised. The Mavic Air is equipped with sensor systems and other technologies that greatly enhance its flying capabilities. These include Advanced Pilot Assistance Systems, which help the drone bypass obstacles in front of and behind it.
Connectivity Reaches New Heights
The Mavic Air has enhanced Wi-Fi video transmission to maintain a better signal and connectivity. This new transmission system gives you a 720p live view from up to 4km away.
A newer model DJI Mavic Air 2 was released in April 2020.

DJI Mavic Air review
The Mavic Air is DJI’s most impressive drone yet. By combining the best bits from the Spark and Mavic Pro, it’s made a cracking gadget for both beginners who want stunning aerial travel videos and those who just want to fly a nimble drone full pelt around the local park. It’s such a good all-rounder that it’s actually hard to recommend getting either the DJI Spark or the Mavic Pro ahead of it, unless price or battery life considerations put you off. Once you’ve added a controller to the Spark, the Mavic Air is only £190 more – and the video quality, portability, extra range and longer battery life more than justify that. The recent Mavic Pro Platinum does promise lower noise levels and 30-minute flight time, which are two of the Air’s main weaknesses, but at £1200 it’s a significant jump up. Which leaves the Air as our current favourite flying, autonomous 4K camera. It’s an amazing gadget that slips into a hiking backpack and can shoot videos that would have, until recently, required serious flying skills and a film studio budget. Now, where to take it next...- Incredibly portable
- Very good video and stills quality
- A cinch to fly
- Battery life still quite restrictive
- Quite noisy when nearby

DONT BUY READ FIRST
Drone came broken from dji, do not buy! Their customer service team does not care about their coustomers even if they spent $1000 on a broken drone... very disappointing from such a reputable company. Take second thoughts before buying drones from this company (dji)
Incredible bit of kit
Bought the drone to expand the story telling process. Its very compact, easy to use and surprisingly powerful! It does struggle in very strong winds but that is a given. I would recommend getting extra batteries or the combo option as high winds = more power consumption.- Durable
- Great Features
- Great Picture Quality
- Lightweight
- Simple Controls
- Small
A lot packed into a small package
It's new, it's loaded with new features and it easily travels with you. They say the best camera is the one you have with you. The same would be said here. It's easy to fly, takes great quality video and stills. Will it stay up as long as the Mavic ProPresentacion
I arrive very quickly to Spain. The handling is very easy, but it requires a long learning curve. It has many autopilot options that it is better to know before using them, youtube is your friend. The battery lasts 16 minutes in flight- my iphone 7 does not enter the remote with case, I have to remove it from the case every time I use it
- The drone heats up not too much, but the internal fan spends most of the time on
Great Drone for starters
I decided it was time to get a drone, and chose this one from the reviews on other sites. I had read the horror stories about people going out on their first flight and the drone shooting up into the upper atmosphere never to be heard from again, but that did not happen.
The DJI Mavic Air is a stunning drone: small enough to squeeze in a pocket, but a brilliant flying camera in every way
DJI Mavic Air: The best drone money can buy
Despite a few minor gripes, though, the DJI Mavic Air is a superb product. It's a fully featured quadcopter that will fold up and fit into a small bag, or even a large pocket. You can control it in the traditional way, use your phone to conveniently tap and fly, or direct it about just by waving...- Super light and compact
- Excellent video and decent photo quality
- Flys superbly
- Battery life not the best
