Another leap forward in camera technology. The improvement in image quality (compared with the D300) leaps out at you most of the time. But in order to get the best out of the camera (maximum detail) I find myself being much more rigourous than with my other cameras.

Great flexibility in terms of correcting errors done during shooting: if you get the framing wrong you can crop, if the get the exposure or lighting wrong then you can go a very long way to get if right in post-processing (if shooting RAW); Lots of useful options

Image sharpness becomes an obsession; There is so much detail that when you look at the image at 100% (as you tend to do when processing in Lightroom) every error in focus area choice or depth of field is immediately obvious.

Stellar!

First, I started out with a Nikon D300 in college and then wanted full frame and went canon. Since then I have gone back in forth with Canon and Pentax, but something just wasn't right. I started reading reviews and it was filling my life.

Amazing Camera

The low-light capability is incredible with this high of resolution. The detail will not dissapoint. You will look deep into images and be amazed at the fine detail captured. Dynamic range is also unmatched.

Nikon D800 has 36.3 megapixels sensor.

The Nikon FX seal , stamping the full-frame cameras , draws attention of photo enthusiasts and professionals . It is inserted in cameras similar to 35mm film size sensor. As the fundamental matter of the photograph is the recording of light , the larger the sensor , the more light is captured .

An amazing camera, great value.

The D800 is easily the best Nikon I've worked with. While it's not perfect in every way, it's pretty close to it. Firstly, image quality is amazing. Obviously with the 36.6 megapixel resolution you're going to notice motion blur when pixel peeping at 100% unless you're shooting at really high...

D800 Pure Detail

I have shot various DSLR and own various DSLR. THe D800 while it has its headaches of huge picture file, the satisfaction is worth every bit of it. The level of details on both print and screen resolution is amazing. Excellent dynamic rante.

Picture quality; Ease of use

Can bit a bit heavy when paired with battery grip and a lens like 70-200 or 24-70.

Perfect all-purpose camera

This camera has everything I could want for all-purpose shooting. Ignore those who say it's only good for studio and landscape photography. It can do everything. For action shooting, you can put it in 1.2 crop mode, get 5 frames per second and still come away with a 25 megapixel image.

Easy To Use; Fast / Accurate Auto-Focus; Fast Shutter Speed; Good Image Quality; High ISO Performance

Feels like a Precision Instrument vs Grown up Toy

bought this during a sale for about 2250 which was a steal for this new model (upgrade from old D200 DX model). Had some older high quality FX lenses which work great with this camera (28-70mm 2.8, 70-200mm VR, 50mm 1.4D). I would carry it wherever I go but with the 28-70mm, its weighs about 5 LBs.

Build Quality; Image Quality; Uncompressed HDMI-out video; dual card slots; battery life; Accurate focus tracking; wide range of customization options; no shallow DOF loss due to FX sensor

both of the dual card slots could be SD even though CF has higher potential throughput (not many CF cards have higher throughput than SD currently and CF is alot more expensive); slower burst rate than competing models (although the product is not positioned towards sports photographers); heavy,...

Great Camera

I went from a D3200 to the D800 and found it easy to learn. I use it with a Nikon 500mm F/4 super telephoto lens and love it. It recently developed a focusing issue and is currently in the shop at Nikon, forcing me to use my D7100.
