I've been using the D3x, 24.5 mp., and this camera has 36 mp. and you can see the difference. If you're stepping up from a lower mp. camera to this one, you will be blown away by the sharpness. It's much smaller and lighter than the D3x, also a big bonus to me.
Everything; an amazing machine; state of the art
No GPS
Everything seems to be brand new even though it is refurbished. The camera only has 544 shutter actuations and everything was in plastic still and clean. If it wasn't for the box that says it is refurbished, you would not know the difference. Great way to save money compared to buying new.
Switched to this from my old workhorse canon eos 400d. What a difference in image quality and build quality on the house! : D Finally, you can use the 50mm 1.8 indoors because it is full-frame and you do not back 100meter to compose the image.
Once in a long while, something comes along which changes the conversation entirely. Nikon's D800 camera comes with an unbelievably high resolution 36MP sensor - the highest yet in any DSLR. Find out what 36 megapixels really get you in this revolutionary new camera.
Exceptionally detailed images; Rich dynamic range; Excellent handling
Moiré patterns visible in some videos; Slower 4 fps shooting speed; Large image files
As you can see from this review, the Nikon D800 is a very appealing camera. With its impressive 36.3 MP sensor, which is currently the highest resolution full-frame sensor on the market (as of May 2012), the D800 delivers stunning images in terms of dynamic range, colors and details.
The Nikon D800 is one of the few professional DSLR cameras in their line that comes with a full-frame FX sensor. The D800 is more affordable than the other series from Nikon, and it's priced in-line with similar cameras in its class.
This professional DSLR is an affordable full-frame Nikon FX that takes great photos
It only shoots up to four images a second and feels slower than other cameras
With its 36 megapixel sensor, sophisticated feature set and amazing image quality, the Nikon D800 offers a solid–and more affordable–alternative to photographers who crave medium-format files without stretching a budget to the breaking point.
Excellent image quality; Large files that allow for cropping; Broad dynamic range; Sophisticated feature set; Expanded video functionality
No "small" RAW options, CF and SD card slots vs; dual CF slots, Moderate 4fps continuous shooting, Focus hunting in video AF
In many ways the Nikon D800 doesn't feel like a natural upgrade to the D700, but rather a new line in Nikon's full-frame DSLR line-up.
Our impressions on the new Nikon D800 are very positive. The changes that Nikon has made make it a major improvement over the previous D700. What is appreciated is the feeling of holding a product of the top for quality of the captured images, both for details and for color fidelity, but especially...
