Ultimate Ears Boom

Ultimate Ears, which was acquired by Logitech in 2008, has clearly produced a very popular Boom product series.

The UE Boom is a 360-degree portable speaker, which launched in the winter of 2013 and has been well-received in the New Zealand market. It's easy tounderstand why Kiwis like it due to it's clever design, great sound and portable nature.

The UE Boom doesn't appear very large when one experiences it for the first time: it's essentially a cylinder-shaped tube 60 mm in diametre and in 190 mm height that weighs 0.55 kg. Its centre of gravity is located near the the base, which makes it quite stable and it isn't likely to fall over in case someone accidentally bounces into it. There's a hook at the top so that it can be hung up.

The speaker is wireless and Bluetooth enabled, and can easily be controlled by Android and iOS mobile apps. This means that you can play and share all your songs on your phone during the barbeque or birthday party. The 15 hour battery life and high sound ensure a pleasant audio experience.

The price around $200 is relatively high compared to other portable speakers sold in New Zealand, but Kiwis perceive it as offering high value.

The successor to UE Boom is the Logitech UE Boom 2. Kiwi audiophiles should also consider the UE MegaBoom. The UE Mini Boom and the UE Roll come at a cheaper price tag and retails at around $130.

great ...but ...only for a short time!!!!

Great little speaker...great sound...very portable...and the battery life SEEMS great for the first while....then it starts to just not charge. The battery life went from about 12-15 hours to about half hour to an hour a couple months later....and you cannot replace the battery!!!!

Ultimate Ears Boom review

The Ultimate Ears Boom, made by the prestigious audio company bought out by Logitech a couple of years ago, is a consumer-friendly portable speaker that's made to go with you wherever you want to take your tunes.

UE Boom

I purchaesd this for use on construction jobs. The need for verbal communication eliminated the possibility of head phones. Need to be able to recieve phone calls with hands free.

Great sound Easy to connect to Bluetooth

Hard to hear on both sides of speaker phone (caller and receiver) Battery life is terrible have to keep plugged in for moderate volume rock and roll music

Excellent Sound. Long battery Life. Portable and Resilient too!

This speaker is AWESOME. really impressed. Hands down favourite speaker. I prefer this much more over the Bose Soundlink II, since the latter sounded like a transistor radio with a tin can over it. The UE Boom sounds clear and full at high volumes, even outside.

Ultimate Ears UE Boom

One of the few areas in audio tech to have grown over the last few years is the Bluetooth speaker. Tykes who used to annoy people by playing tunes on their mobile phones on the bus have apparently grown up into adults who like the idea of a wireless portable speaker to crank tunes out of.

Seriously loud; Attractive design; Solid battery life

Expensive; Socket placement ruins waterproofing

UE Boom Bluetooth driver is malware

Yes the product works as designed. However it (the driver) ended up causing a problem with other devices on Windows 10. After uninstalling the driver and power cycling you will notice UE boom driver still shows up. Looking at the registry (post removal) you will find UE boom all over.

Works as speaker; but can corrupt your OS

Once you install the UE Boom driver; good luck getting rid of it

Play music wirelessly with this stylish boombox.

Logitech's UE Boombox is a stylish speaker that uses Bluetooth to wirelessly play your favourite tunes. The $299 speaker is a good looking piece of kit, but will it play your music with enough gusto to get the party started?

Great build; Bright sound; Easy bluetooth pairing

No speaker phone; Discolouration of rubber base

Ultimate Ears UE Mini Boom

Measuring 4.3" wide by 2.3" tall by 2.6" deep, UE Mini Boom uses a combination of colored metallic and rubberized surfaces to form a rounded-off box of thick rubber, matching or contrasting in color with painted metal front and rear grilles.
