Ultimate Ears Boom

Ultimate Ears, which was acquired by Logitech in 2008, has clearly produced a very popular Boom product series.

The UE Boom is a 360-degree portable speaker, which launched in the winter of 2013 and has been well-received in the New Zealand market. It's easy tounderstand why Kiwis like it due to it's clever design, great sound and portable nature.

The UE Boom doesn't appear very large when one experiences it for the first time: it's essentially a cylinder-shaped tube 60 mm in diametre and in 190 mm height that weighs 0.55 kg. Its centre of gravity is located near the the base, which makes it quite stable and it isn't likely to fall over in case someone accidentally bounces into it. There's a hook at the top so that it can be hung up.

The speaker is wireless and Bluetooth enabled, and can easily be controlled by Android and iOS mobile apps. This means that you can play and share all your songs on your phone during the barbeque or birthday party. The 15 hour battery life and high sound ensure a pleasant audio experience.

The price around $200 is relatively high compared to other portable speakers sold in New Zealand, but Kiwis perceive it as offering high value.

The successor to UE Boom is the Logitech UE Boom 2. Kiwi audiophiles should also consider the UE MegaBoom. The UE Mini Boom and the UE Roll come at a cheaper price tag and retails at around $130.

Review: Ultimate Ears Boom Bluetooth portable speaker

Ultimate Ears brings its third Bluetooth speaker offering to market in the Boom, a device that features "360-degree sound" and the ability to "Double Up," or pair two speakers together, for stereo output.

Giant; clear sound; Good battery life; Double Up stereo capability

Expensive; Some bass distortion at high volumes

With the vast (and ever-growing) sea of audio products available, it becomes harder and harder to get noticed. It takes the right combination of elements to get that attention and then deliver with quality that people will love and keep.

Oh boy, it's YAPBSR (yet another portable Bluetooth speaker review)! Hey don't press the back button yet, this particular little speaker has a lot going for it. It's the UE MINI BOOM and it's made by Ultimate Ears (owned by Logitech), who make some of the best in-ear headphones on the market.

Impressive sound; Easy NFC pairing; Can connect 2 for wide stereo separation

Ultimate Ears Mini Boom Review

The UE MINI BOOM is a great upgrade to one of the best Bluetooth speakers. Adding speaker mirror and right/left support is a great way to double the sound.

Logitech Ultimate Ears UE Boom Wireless Speaker Review

The UE Boom is one of those tech products that a lot of audio geeks have been talking about. For those unfamiliar with Ultimate Ears, the niche headphone manufacturer put themselves on the map by producing high-end and excellent sounding in-ear monitors and earbud style headphones.

Great Packaging; Unique Design; Fun To Use; Hi-Fi Caliber Sound On the Go
