Sony PlayStation VR
PlayStation VR is developed specifically for the PlayStation platform with its popular and established user base. Head and motion sensors precicely track the gamer's movement. The quality of Playstation VR can't match that Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, but it's also priced lower. It was announced in March 2016.
A newer model Sony Playstation VR2 was released in February 2022.

It's like being outside...
This is a really good piece of kit, I am still getting into it, but if my experience of flying an X Wing fighter is anything to go by, I will be spending too much time with this!
Good value, works great. Durable build
I don't know how PSVR compares to other VR devices, but this was definitely a good value for the money. I had some minor gripes with it, mostly difficulty getting it in the right position on my head, but after using it for a few weeks I can throw it on in under a minute and play. Works great.
Great Service
This was purchased as a gift for my grandson. Christmas isnt here yet so I cant review the product but the service I received was phenomenal.
PlayStation VR review
PlayStation VR is an affordable introduction to quality VR. Many of the experiences aren't as crisp as the ones found on the Oculus Rift or HTC Vive, but, for a system that uses a PS4 instead of an expensive PC gaming rig, we're not complaining. Plus, a recent price reduction makes it even more appealing.- Affordable
- Near PC-quality performance
- Good selection of games
- Doesn't come with required accessories
- Poor job sealing out light
- Spotty motion controller tracking
Sony PlayStation VR review: Virtual reality for the masses
We can't count the amount of times someone has said 2016 would be the "year of VR", ourselves included if we're being honest, but we're 10 months in now and it's been anything but. Unavailability, price hikes and the reliance on expensive PC equipment have hampered Oculus Rift and HTC Vive .- Incredible gaming experiences
- sturdy and robust headset
- works with existing technology
- cheaper than equivalent rivals
- Set-up can be long and frustrating
- tracking issues can occur
- screen lower resolution than rivals
- games can be pricey
Review: Sony PlayStation VR
In the still-young history of virtual reality, March of 2014 stands as a watershed moment: That was the month, as stockholders ( and Kickstarters ) know all too well, that Facebook turned Oculus into a billion-dollar company.- The most affordable of the positionally tracked VR systems (especially if you already own a PS4)
- A robust slate of games available at launch means you'll have plenty to do
- Deceptively great ergonomics make the headset more comfortable, for longer
- Incrementally less powerful than the Rift or Vive
- Almost exclusively game-centered thus far
- If you need the camera or motion controllers, the bundle is an extra $100
- Light leakage is a serious issue, especially when playing during daylight hours
- (Daylight can also affect tracking precision.
Sony PlayStation VR
Sony's virtual reality headset is finally here. The PlayStation VR is a $399.99 system designed for use with the PlayStation 4 and the upcoming PS4 Pro . It's a powerful accessory that lags only a hair behind the PC-powered HTC and Oculus Rift in and is far less expensive, especially when you put...- Immersive VR experience
- Works with non-VR apps and games
- Motion control support
- Low cost of entry compared with PC-based headsets
- Requires PlayStation Camera, which is not included
- Slightly less powerful than its main competitors
- Some motion-tracking hiccups when playing in brightly lit rooms
PlayStation VR review: now on sale, but is it better than life?
VR Worlds includes a series of immersive experiences designed to draw you into the world of virtual reality. Ocean Descent, for example, isn't a game so to speak, but instead a five minute or so on-the-rails experience where you play a diver in a diving cage being slowly lowered through the various...- Affordable price
- Good selection of games
- Immersive experience
- Key accessories not included
- Glasses can cause light-bleed
PlayStation VR is a great piece of quality hardware supported by a strong line-up of launch games that showcase the potential of virtual reality. Sony's headset is cheaper than the HTC Vive and Oculus, but its quality is far greater than the disparity in price might suggest.
