New Sony MDR-7506 Headphone Black review

There is a huge number of headphones available on the hi-fi and pro-audio markets, but for our purposes as recording musicians the options are usefully restricted. Clearly, audio quality must come at the top of the wish list, and closed-back headphones are easier to use in a recording environment.

So worth the price.

Headphones, good headphones, create a personal listening experience for audiophiles. Poor quality headphones can ruin a listening experience. Good music, which is any music you enjoy, deserves a quality product.

Sony MDR7506 Headphone

The Sony MDR7506 Studio Headphones have become the standard in film and television field sound recording as well as studio recording. I've been a film sound recordist for 20 years and prior to using the 7506 phones, and their predecessor the MDR-V6 Sony MDR-V6 Monitor Series Headphones with CCAW...

for listening pleasure

The Sony MDR 7506 headphones suited me perfectly when I was using them. I say "when" because I was using them a long time ago. One thing that I liked most about them was of comfortable they where. The really fit around my hears really nice and have a soft feel to them.

Sony MDR-7506 Review

The Sony MDR-7506 is an extremely sensitive, closed, isolating headphone that's great for travel and monitoring professional field recordings - especially DSLR video.

ive had mine for 2 years

one of the reasons why i bought a pair was that i can afford. i had very limited choices back then. it had good reviews so i decided on them. no regrets because they were very useful. although they are far from the very advanced ones in the market, you can still use it for listening to good music.

Sony MDR 7506 Headphones

I purchased these Sony headphones semi-new for only $50 at the time from a friend of mine. They can be found currently around $99 or less.

Sony MDR-7506 headphones: Best full-size model under $100?

Introduced way back in 1991, the Sony MDR-7506 has long been a favorite headphone of recording engineers and other sound professionals. The origins of its design date even further back, since the MDR-7506 is, in fact, a refresh of the Sony MDR-V6 that rolled out in 1985.

closed-back, full-size headphones click with all music genres and are comfortable to wear for hours at a time; They sound excellent for their relatively modest price point

With a coiled; pro-style cable and lack of an inline remote/microphone; some will find the 7506s less mobile-friendly than more modern headphones

Very balanced and flat eq sounding headphones.

Well mastered 320 kbps Mp3 and 24-bit Flac files sound amazing. Blu-ray movies sound better than the speaker setup at public movie theaters minus the sound impact to the whole body.

Flat eq sound that's hard to find in today's headphones; Very reliable and still sounds superb; Easy to drive and gives high volume without amplification; Sounds phenomenal with Blu-ray + Dolby audio post processing

Still requires a decent headphone amplifier to hear that awesome tight bass at lowest frequencies; Some poorly mastered CDs and MP3 at 128 kbps sounds ugly with the instruments mashing up during chorus which is clearly caused by compression
