Sony Alpha 7R II Review

Sony doesn't pull any punches with its second-generation Alpha 7R ($1,099.00 at Amazon UK) . The 7R II ($3,199.99, body only) ups its full-frame sensor resolution to 42 megapixels, and it uses a back side-illuminated (BSI) design to keep the low-light performance of its high-res sensor strong. Add internal 4K video recording capability, in-body image stabilization, and a lens system that's getting better and better in terms of selection, and you have a very appealing camera. We're not naming it Editors' Choice—the 24-megapixel Alpha 7 II ($1,099.00 at Amazon UK) is a better option for most photographers. But if you want more resolution than the 24-megapixel Alpha 7 II offers, or if 4K recording is a priority, the Alpha 7R II is worth a look—just get ready to open your wallet. Design and FeaturesThe Alpha 7R II ($1,099.00 at Amazon UK) is physically identical to the other current models in the series, the Alpha 7 II and Alpha 7S II ($2,999.99). It's on the bulky side when compared ...

The Sony Alpha 7R II is a full-frame mirrorless camera that delivers absolutely incredible image and video quality, but it will cost you.

Excellent 42-megapixel image sensor; Superb high ISO imaging; In-body image stabilization; 5fps continuous shooting; Hybrid autofocus system; Hinged rear display; Excellent EVF; Dust- and moisture-resistant design; 4K video capture

Expensive; Omits PC sync socket; Overly sensitive eye sensor; No built-in flash

What a Camera! Couple big issues

I have now been using this camera, along my 5Dm3 for over 3 years. There is a reason I always take my Canon on shoots. After a few embafrassing glitches.... As soon as I have to swap lenses, Respond time in fast paced work, I am happy to put this down and grab the 5Dm3.

You can't buy a single camera that does it all, no matter how much you spend. The most expensive DSLR or mirrorless offerings will give you top-notch photos or great video-not both in a single package. But Sony's A7r Mark II is tantalizingly close to being that do-it-all camera.

Great camera !!

The a7Rii has so many options that as a retired truck drive, will probably not use, auto works great for me !! My first DSL camera, CX 100, almost 16yrs old, 14,000 photos, still working good !! I past it on to my daughter, but kept some of the lens that I bought though the years !!

Don't sleep on Sony!

I love this camera!! I know I could've spent a little more money and snagged the a7riii but I felt this would exceed my expectations which is it did and more! I bought this baby and paired it 85mm 1.4 and WOW!

Sony Alpha a7R II (no lens included)

Now that SONY upgrade the Alpha A7 Series to the New A7RIII, A9 and the budged is a constrain, the A7RII still the best option to buy. If you are considering upgrade from the A6000 series, A7, A7II, or DSLR, the A7RII is loaded with a fantastic features and a 42.4 MP sensor you won't regrets for...

It new price and features, Sensor quality and resolution, 42.4MP; Same as the A7III AND the 7RIII; 399 AF points, 5 axis in body stabilization system..; A7 series with the play memories apps access..

The only but not a deal breaker, shoots per battery charge; Batteries are cheaper now; With 4 batteries in your bag you are covered; No other cons found
