Overall, these headphones have been outstanding and I am very happy with them. They have gotten many hours of use over the last 2 years, and they have been completely reliable with no degradation in sound quality or comfort.

Ideal for home or studio

Sennheiser's HD 280 model headphones come in three variants - the Pro, the Silver and the 13. The HD 280-Pro is the original design and is uniform in colour and has 64 Ohm impedance. The Silver is technically identical to the Pro but has a plastic silver-coloured back-plate on each phone.

Great value headphone.

Hi, The 280 pro as a great value headphone, but it does have a few problems. First, the bass extends very low, but its not very strong, it does respond well to equalization though. Second, the highs can be a bit harsh/grating the highs extend very high.

Premium Sound

These are excellent headphones, offering a premium quality full spectrum of sound (great highs, mids, and lows) as well as sealing your music in and peripheral noise out. The ear pieces fold flat so you can easily transport them in a case with other things or by themselves.

They work fine and sound nice ...

I use these headphones with my Yaesu FT-920 and they are clear with some "over ears" base sound, but not to much so. They are still crisp and clear sounding. AM, SSB and CW come through equally well. They will keep the noise out.

Pretty great, especially for the price.

I've been using these headphones since Mar. of 2009 and have been pretty content ever since. I mean, sure, higher-end headphones do exist, but usually they're way more expensive and designed for content that isn't as accessible as MP3s and such.

"...much deliberation I chose the Sennheiser HD280 pro closed monitoring headphones at just under a hundred pounds which are essentially pro spec cans designed for studio use. I'm not going to copy the full spec of the headphones as I suspect that it would be double dutch to most people but should...

Sennheiser?HD 280

I don't actually know the model year, but these phones have been around for about 10 years according to HeadRoom. I got mine about 3 years ago or so. I picked them out based on the data at HeadRoom, since there are not many good headphones sold locally.

These headphones are too inexpensive for how good they are

Buy these. You won't be disappointed. They provide excellent passive noise cancellation. Many audio professionals (engineers, radio djs, even football coaches) use these headphones because of their true response and circum-aural design.
