Samsung Galaxy A51 Smartphone Review – Dedicated to success

Samsung's Galaxy A51 is another mid-range device that has hardly any real weaknesses. Its cameras ar... An exemplary mid-range phone. The Samsung Galaxy A51 is the successor of one of the most successful smartphones of 2019. Naturally, therefore, our expectations are high - but competition never sleeps. Find out whether the Galaxy smartphone with its total of five cameras can stand its ground in our review.
Pros:
  • slim, fancy case
  • flexible camera of good quality
  • a lot of LTE frequencies
  • dedicated microSD slot
  • 60-fps gaming in some games
  • color-accurate and bright screen
  • hardly any heat development
Cons:
  • performance average for this price range
  • battery life could be longer
  • no continuous zoom
  • browsing is on the slow side

Samsung Galaxy A51 Black Smartphone SM-A515FZKWVNZ review

With the Galaxy S20 series starting a thousand dollars , many cash-strapped Samsung fans are probably considering more affordable upgrade options this year. And apparently, Samsung anticipated this (and if it didn't, it sure knows now ), as it's making more of its low-end and mid-range lineup...
Pros:
  • Display The screen is massive, and it's an AMOLED panel. You can't ask for much more on a mid-range phone
  • Performance The Exynos processor with 4GB RAM handled my usual apps and games just fine.
Cons:
  • Cameras The main camera produces muddy photos, and the other two lenses aren't any better
  • Design While the Galaxy A51 is generally designed well, the glossy plastic back attracts fingerprints and smudges much easier than glass.

Samsung Galaxy A51 Black Smartphone SM-A515FZKWVNZ review

The Samsung Galaxy A51 is an affordable way to get a good-looking Galaxy phone, but it makes Android feel a little too slow for us to wholeheartedly recommend it.
Pros:
  • Bold OLED screen
  • Has a headphone jack
  • It’s a Samsung Galaxy
  • without an S20 price
Cons:
  • Feels slower than most at this level
  • Poor fingerprint scanner
  • Unusually prominent punch-hole camera

Galaxy A51 review: Samsung beats the iPhone SE in these important ways

It's the perfect iPhone SE rival in every way but one. How good can a $400 phone really be? When the device in question is the Samsung Galaxy A51, the answer is simple: very good. As the first real representative of the Galaxy A family in the US, the A51 is a convincing effort that proves Samsung can make a good midprice phone that's worth buying. In fact, Samsung's budget phone (£329 in the UK and AU$599 in Australia) even bests the iPhone SE (which starts at $399, £419 and AU$749), in some specific, and significant, ways. When it comes to screen size and clarity, phone features, camera quality and performance, the Galaxy A51 delivers where it counts, with one exception.
Pros:
  • 6.5-inch screen is detailed and bright
  • Wide-angle camera option
  • Headphone jack
Cons:
  • Processor speed drags
  • No water resistance

Samsung Galaxy A51 review

After being extremely impressed with newer mid-range phones from Google and Apple, we decided to check out the competition. The Galaxy A51 is Samsung’s answer to mid-range models like the iPhone SE and Pixel 3a . And it’s … well, it’s an extremely “Samsung” phone, if that makes any sense.
Pros:
  • Beautiful screen and body, Big, expandable storage, Can be found on sale easily
Cons:
  • Bloated software, Terrible fingerprint reader, Not enough RAM, Tons of unnecessary apps

Samsung Galaxy A51 Black Smartphone SM-A515FZKWVNZ review

The Galaxy A51 is a nicely specified handset that should appeal to Samsung fans looking for mid-range performance at a reasonable price. There are more affordable alternatives if you're interested in buying SIM-free, though.

Samsung's $400 Galaxy A51 Is Sadly Average and Overpriced

Sluggish performance and average cameras mire an otherwise fine Android phone.
Pros:
  • Decent battery life. Cameras snap decent photos in good lighting. There's a headphone jack! It looks modern, has NFC for contactless payments, and includes a Micro SD card slot for extra storage. Plastic back design is more durable. Three years of Android updates.
Cons:
  • Performance can drag. The cameras lag behind peers. Overpriced.

Samsung Galaxy A51 review: Is it still worth buying in 2021?

The Samsung Galaxy A51, a mid-range smartphone that was released in January 2020, proved to be a bestseller that received bouquets from the tech press and users as it offers fantastic value-for-money. A year on, I tested the Samsung Galaxy A51 to see if it is still worth picking one up today.
Pros:
  • Excellent 60Hz AMOLED screen, Adequate camera performance, Guaranteed support up to Android 13 and 3 more years of security updates, 3.5 mm jack and expandable storage
Cons:
  • Exynos 9611 performance, Average battery life, Fast charge is super slow, No IP certification, Does not offer value-for-money in 2021

Good, solid phone with cool features, and one flaw

I have used Samsung now for around 6 years. In general they are pretty good all round and the A51 is no exception. It has a great screen, a good camera system and easy, solid operating system. Battery life is a bit average (may be the Covidsafe app!) but I am overall happy with the phone. Unfortunately there is a serious gremlin in the fingerprint scanner where it plain refuses to read one or more fingers, yet a few minutes later it works perfectly. I took the first A51 back to the dealer reasoning I had a dud, but this one is just as bad. Hopefully something Samsung can fix with a software upgrade.
