Samsung Galaxy A51 review: Is it still worth buying in 2021?
The Samsung Galaxy A51, a mid-range smartphone that was released in January 2020, proved to be a bestseller that received bouquets from the tech press and users as it offers fantastic value-for-money. A year on, I tested the Samsung Galaxy A51 to see if it is still worth picking one up today.- Excellent 60Hz AMOLED screen, Adequate camera performance, Guaranteed support up to Android 13 and 3 more years of security updates, 3.5 mm jack and expandable storage
- Exynos 9611 performance, Average battery life, Fast charge is super slow, No IP certification, Does not offer value-for-money in 2021

The Galaxy A51 is a nicely specified handset that should appeal to Samsung fans looking for mid-range performance at a reasonable price. There are more affordable alternatives if you're interested in buying SIM-free, though.

The Samsung Galaxy A51 has a great display and good build quality, but is severely hindered by sluggish performance....- Colorful
- bright OLED display Good build quality Dual-SIM Expandable storage
- Sluggish performance
Samsung Galaxy A51 (Review Samsung Galaxy A51)
A pretty good phone that can use a more powerful processor- Excellent display, Solid cameras, Good battery life
- Underwhelming performance, Not waterproof, Fingerprint sensor doesn’t work well
Absolutely amazing
Compared to my 2017 galaxy a5 phone, this phone is amazing with features I never thought would be on the a51. Overall a great product. The sellers do not know that it comes with a case and protective screen cover already on it though
Good, solid phone with cool features, and one flaw
I have used Samsung now for around 6 years. In general they are pretty good all round and the A51 is no exception. It has a great screen, a good camera system and easy, solid operating system. Battery life is a bit average (may be the Covidsafe app!) but I am overall happy with the phone. Unfortunately there is a serious gremlin in the fingerprint scanner where it plain refuses to read one or more fingers, yet a few minutes later it works perfectly. I took the first A51 back to the dealer reasoning I had a dud, but this one is just as bad. Hopefully something Samsung can fix with a software upgrade.

Samsung Galaxy A51 review
After being extremely impressed with newer mid-range phones from Google and Apple, we decided to check out the competition. The Galaxy A51 is Samsung’s answer to mid-range models like the iPhone SE and Pixel 3a . And it’s … well, it’s an extremely “Samsung” phone, if that makes any sense.- Beautiful screen and body, Big, expandable storage, Can be found on sale easily
- Bloated software, Terrible fingerprint reader, Not enough RAM, Tons of unnecessary apps
Samsung Galaxy A51 Black Smartphone SM-A515FZKWVNZ review
A great design and screen are the big sells of this mid-ranger, which performs generally well but can struggle a little when it comes to gaming tasks. Otherwise the clean software experience makes for a generally polished and affordable choice.- Great display
- High quality looks
- Good main camera performance in most conditions
- Solid battery life
- Under display fingerprint scanner
- Lacks overall power
- Some lag in usage
- Single speaker limited
- Easy to block Bluetooth antenna and cause cut-out
- Quad cameras oversell themselves a little
