Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX 12-24mm F4G IF-ED

The Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX 12-24mm F4 G IF-ED is perfect for shooting just about anything. Optimized for DX-format cameras, this lens is an excellent choice for travel and establishing shots for HD video recording. Plus, it can be used to take landscape photos.

With the Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX 12-24mm F4 G IF-ED, you get HD videos and a lot more. It is convenient for shooting homes and the outsides of buildings. The AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 12-24mm f/4G IF-ED offers a unique perspective and rich color images. If you need a wide angle lens, you will love it. The AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 12–24mm f/4G IF-ED is lightweight and perfect for your next adventure.

The Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX 12-24mm F4 G IF-ED clearly offers superior performance. It combines a wider angle-of-view with optical characteristics that are optimized for advanced DX-format Nikon D-SLR camera sensors. There is a lot to like about this lens.

Another feature is the Silent Wave Motor. The lens comes with Nikon's Silent Wave Motor (SWM), which is one of the latest technologies. It uses ultrasonic vibrations instead of a gear system. This helps focus the lens and offers precise autofocus operation. It is an excellent addition for those who take a lot of photos and are seeking high quality results.

Plus, the Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX 12-24mm F4 G IF-ED features an optical glass produced by Nikon. It can be used with the normal optical glass and provides optimum correction.

With the NIKKOR lens, you have access to the focusing mode. It can be used to switch from automatic to manual focus minus the lag time. All you have to do is turn the focus ring on the lens. As a result, one can switch from manual focusing while at the same time looking through the viewfinder.

Only the internal lens shifts when focusing. As a result, the Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX 12-24mm F4 G IF-ED does not change in size, while it is being operated. This makes it more compact and it can focus closely on distance. The lens is designed with the symbols IF on the barrel.

Nikon's 12-24mm has a constant maximum aperture of f/4 through the entire zoom range, stopping down to f/22. On a Nikon D-SLR with a 1.5x focal length multiplication, it has a 35mm equivalent of 18-36mm, offering plenty of wide-angle coverage.

Great lens and glad I got it for less than street cost.

This is a fantastic lens. Not quite as wide as the 10-24mm but has less distortion and better quality lens. The lens is recognized by Lightroom (I have version 3) so it has an automatic setting to adjust the distortion in post processing, where as the 10-24mm did not.

Not merely a good lens; a game changer!

The one lens that's been missing in my camera bag until now has been a good wide-angle. This is not merely a "good" wide angle; it is no less than a game changing lens, simply superlative in sharpness, color rendition, contrast and distortion control. Buy it!

I purchased this lens used and had problems with really unsharp corners. I did some testing and determined the lens was de-centered. Sent it in to Nikon for repair and it came back better, but I still think the corners are soft at the wide end, even when well stopped down.

Very good resistance to flare; great color and contrast; sharp everywhere at long end and in center at short end

Corners at short end are soft; doesn't focus nearly close enough

Love it-Love it-Love it.

The best £[$] pounds I ever spent the lens is now 4 years old,and still looks like new after many adventures.Nikon have updated this unit with a f2.8.but I will not be tempted, at f4 it has given and given and now our bond is tight.

Nikon 12-24 DX

The lens is a must if you use a Nikon DX camera as Nikon make no wide angle prime DX lenses, i've owned the 10.5 fisheye but its very hard to take a decent picture as the lens bends any straight lines,(which it is designed to do). The 12-24 used on my old D80 and now my D2x gives excellent results.

Sharp and beautiful photos!!

I love landscape photography and this lens is one of the best tools to assist you with taking breath-taking shots that are sharp and beautiful with magnificent distance and depth. This is one of the best tools available to get real wide angle and depth if you are using an DSLR camera.

Great travel and landscape lens!

Bought it used from Adorama with a Tiffen UV filter for around $Au699 (including shipping to Australia). It was a toss-up between the Nikon 12-24 and 10-24 (and the Tokina 11-16) but ended up going with the 12-24 after lots and lots of web research.

Durable; Easily Interchangeable; Fast / accurate auto-focus; Rugged; Strong Construction; Versatile

Best wide for a Nikon crop body~ Ken Rockwell

"Low distortion (for a wide), sharp as a tac, f/2.8 and excellent build quality. So many good things to say about this lens. Spends a lot of walk around time on my D90 because it's a joy to shoot with. Ken is right."
