Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX 12-24mm F4G IF-ED

Rating 4.4 33 reviews

The Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX 12-24mm F4 G IF-ED is perfect for shooting just about anything. Optimized for DX-format cameras, this lens is an excellent choice for travel and establishing shots for HD video recording. Plus, it can be used to take landscape photos.

With the Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX 12-24mm F4 G IF-ED, you get HD videos and a lot more. It is convenient for shooting homes and the outsides of buildings. The AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 12-24mm f/4G IF-ED offers a unique perspective and rich color images. If you need a wide angle lens, you will love it. The AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 12–24mm f/4G IF-ED is lightweight and perfect for your next adventure.

The Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX 12-24mm F4 G IF-ED clearly offers superior performance. It combines a wider angle-of-view with optical characteristics that are optimized for advanced DX-format Nikon D-SLR camera sensors. There is a lot to like about this lens.

Another feature is the Silent Wave Motor. The lens comes with Nikon's Silent Wave Motor (SWM), which is one of the latest technologies. It uses ultrasonic vibrations instead of a gear system. This helps focus the lens and offers precise autofocus operation. It is an excellent addition for those who take a lot of photos and are seeking high quality results.

Plus, the Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX 12-24mm F4 G IF-ED features an optical glass produced by Nikon. It can be used with the normal optical glass and provides optimum correction.

With the NIKKOR lens, you have access to the focusing mode. It can be used to switch from automatic to manual focus minus the lag time. All you have to do is turn the focus ring on the lens. As a result, one can switch from manual focusing while at the same time looking through the viewfinder.

Only the internal lens shifts when focusing. As a result, the Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX 12-24mm F4 G IF-ED does not change in size, while it is being operated. This makes it more compact and it can focus closely on distance. The lens is designed with the symbols IF on the barrel.

I love wide angle lens and this lens gives me the room I need when working close to subject and to see the big picture. At F/4 it's has enough light to focus in most low light situations and still keep a nice depth of field. Rarely do I need to use manual focus, and in close the lens is still sharp.
Pros:
  • Fast focusing with AF-S
  • good size and weight
Cons:
  • A little pricey for an F/4
  • Lens hood design seems to be wider than nessesary

When you need it, YOU REALLY NEED IT!

I don't use this lense very often, but when I need it, I really need it. It produces fantatic photographs of entire rooms full of people and awsome shots of nature or mountins. The photographs are very sharp, even in low light with my D300 camera.
Pros:
  • Consistent Output
  • Durable
  • Easily Interchangeable
  • Rugged
  • Sharp Focus
  • Strong Construction
Cons:
  • Must read the manual

Outstanding picture results in all lighting. Works well with build in D40 flash. Can't wait to try with SB-800 flash. Great for indoor Realtor photos for whole room look. Takes good portraits but photo subjects can get nervous at first with camera so close to them. Solid / fast auto focus speed.
Pros:
  • Sharp images
  • no distortion at 12mm
  • fast focus
Cons:
  • wide shape at 77mm, manual focus ring near auto focus ring, minor points here
  • Expensive but you get what you pay for in quality photos
