the best mid-zoom lens ever from NIKON
I don't understand why people rate this lens so low but this is the best mid-zoom lens from NIKON ever. Yes, it's expensive but it's worth every single penny if you can afford it. Using this with my D7000 and it works just perfect and picture quality is blowing my mind!!!

I have a D5100 with the 18-55mm kit lens, bought this as an extension to the kit lens and I\'m happy I did. The AF is quieter and faster than the 18-55mm kit lens. I’ve taken a lot of pictures with this lens and even at 300mm the pictures are extremely sharp (see attached pictures).

"This is not a light lens. I found a black rapid shoulder strap was a necessity when this is on my camera. The balance on a D600 is good but improved with a battery grip. That said, I took it to Havana recently and was quite pleased with it's versatility for street photography.

Awesome, awesome pro lens!
I did not buy this from Flipkart but bought it outside as I was getting a combo offer with my D610. I've used this lens before to cover engagements and weddings on my old D700 - and it has always been an amazing lens for just about anything (Except extremely wide shots of the venue etc).

TOP GLASS !
Excellent lens..a must have for any professional or a pssionate photographer. makes excellent bokehs and works very well under low lighting conditions. An excellent lens for wedding photography as it gives very good flexibility. Build quality is really great. The hood of the lens is too big !!

Just go for it!
Yes, this lens is big and it is heavy; it's even slightly heavier (albeit slimmer) than my old Nikon f/2.8 28-70 mm "workhorse" which unfortunately gave up the ghost in early 2011 after many years of great service.

Superb midrange camera lens!
This is one of the Nikon "holy trinity" lenses to have. Really great as a walk about lens, although the field of view will be somewhat limited on a DX camera body due to the crop factor.
