Logitech Harmony 650 Remote

I have this Remote for 2 months already and I won't go back. With around five remotes I thought it was time for just getting this remote, turning five remotes into one. It certainly made my life easier! I use the Harmony to control my Sony TV, LG Media Player, Onkyo amp and XBOX.

Love this remote!

Love this remote better than the RF version. Yes you have to point it at the TV until all equipment is on and inputs set, but but it works! Occasionally when a input select is not right the simple help menu walks you through the fix.

Harmony 650 - A remote your wife can love

Ok, really not trying to sound sexist here, but let's face it, many of us are married to women who just want to "watch TV" or "listen to music". In gerneral they are not as interested as we might be in the complexities that are often involved in managing multiple devices with multiple remote...

Easy online setup; supports 220,000+ devices; wife friendly; it works; low price

No backlight for Activity buttons Only controls 5 devices

Logitech Harmony 650 Remote Control Review

As we collect more and more television-related gadgets, the number of remote controls expands until we find ourselves fumbling with four or five remotes trying to find the right one for the task at hand. That's where Logitech's line of Harmony Remote Controls comes in.

love having just 1 remote

Because Harmony remotes can be programmed to do things based on activity, i.e. watch tv, watch movie, they handle all of the equipment used for that activity utilizing a single button.

Nice Features

Need to be tech savvy

Logitech Harmony 650

Logitech's line of Harmony universal remotes includes more models at more affordable price points than ever before. For 2010, the line-up expands to include the AU$59.95 Harmony 300 and the AU$99.95 Harmony 600 , as well as the AU$149.95 Harmony 650 reviewed here.

Powerful universal remote with great ergonomics; Colour LCD screen surrounded by five contextual buttons; Web programmable via Windows or Mac PCs; Excellent button layout and overall design; Supports custom sequences/macros; Price tag

Only controls five devices; Requires internet-connected PC to program; Adding favourite channel icons is a bit more difficult than it should be

Excellent for basic setups, average for something more complex.

My setup is a little different than most with an HTPC, Wii, AV receiver, TV and Projector. I may be asking a little bit too much out of this remote, but I have tweaked it to a point where it does the basics that I need it to do with out too much fuss...

Easy to setup for novice users who want to have basic control over their home entertainment center; Easy to use, intuitive remote; Lights up when you pick it up (using a very basic "motion" sensor); Definitely consolidates multiple remotes.

- Web-Based programming means that you always need to be connected online when programming the remote; - Unable to have a "dummy" device for something you cannot control on this remote (like setting up your AV Reciever and TV to play a Wii); I suppose you can select a device you don't have.
