Google Pixel 4/4XL Impressions: Great hardware but still far from perfect!
At MadeByGoogle 2019 event, Google showcased its new Pixel 4 and 4XL smartphones . These smartphones seriously have some amazing features. There are also some features, which are downright disappointing. Because of such quirks, Pixel 4 devices are not for everyone. Let me explain why.
Google Pixel 4 XL review
We're struggling to summarise our thoughts on the Pixel 4 and 4 XL. On one hand, they're brilliant smartphones, but on the other, we have so many gripes; the fingerprint sensor is gone, Motion Sense is gimmicky and battery life remains middling at best.- Cameras are excellent, playful design, 90Hz screen is great, slick performance and Android 10 software.
- Battery live is middling at best, no fingerprint sensor, Motion Sense is gimmicky at present, the top bezel.
Google Pixel 4 and 4 XL Review: A small step forward
The Pixel 4 and 4 XL, Google's latest flagships, are here. After months of leaks and speculation, the most highly anticipated and intensely scrutinized Android handset of the year is about to be available.- 90Hz display
- Improved camera
- Excellent design
- Poor battery
- Motion Sense isn't reliable
- Missing features in Canada
Google Pixel 4 XL review
Google’s Pixel phones remain a strong choice for Android purists and photography fans Optimum Android experience Great video Excellent camera Sound lacks life No fingerprint sensor
Google Pixel 4 XL reviewed: flagship value sans excitement
Coming in as one of the least expensive of any of the flagships this year, the Pixel 4 XL offers a couple of pretty compelling reasons to check it out, mostly focusing on the price and camera prowess.- Feels lovely in the hands, Performs very well, Lovely screen, Portrait mode is still one of the best, Night mode is excellent, Good value, Water resistance, Wireless charging
- Doesn't feel like much of an upgrade from last year, Screen has large bezels for a 2019 phone, Low amount of storage, Battery life isn't amazing, Facial security can be easily tricked, Front-facing camera isn't as versatile as last year
The Pixel 4 Is a Fantastic Phone, Just Not Our Favorite
For once, Google’s latest phone falls short. Its predecessor is just as good—and cheaper.- Class-leading camera with great night shots. Face unlock works better than any other Android phone. Gets regular software and security updates. Beautiful 90-Hz OLED display and powerful chipset. Awesome new audio transcription features.
- Battery performance is manageable, but the phone may die before bedtime if you have a particularly long night. Waterproof but not dirtproof. No headphone jack. $799 base model has only 64 GB and lacks a MicroSD card slot.
Google Pixel 4 XL Review: A hard sell
With the big uplift in excellent camera phones at varying prices this year, it's no longer good enough for Google to simply have an "okay" phone with an "amazing" camera. And Google knows it. With the Pixel 4 XL, Google takes many more risks.- Excellent camera for photos
- Grippy body is a nice change from the usual
- highly polished flagships
- Smooth Display is a significant upgrade
- Great software
- Disappointing battery life
- Lack of ultra-wide camera is a shame
- Motion Sense features are currently limited
- Storage options only up to 128GB
Google Pixel 4 XL review
For the past few years, I've looked forward to Google announcing its latest Pixel phone. I've enjoyed and easily recommended every Pixel phone Google has released. It's been one of my favorite devices released every year, and even with months of leaks that revealed nearly everything there is to know...- Impressive camera, Pure Android with regular updates, Wider carrier availability
- Poor battery life, 64GB of base storage, $899 starting price point
Google Pixel 4 XL review (2019): Full Resolution
The Google Pixel 4 introduces new features and a stellar camera but it struggles in other areas and dilutes a lot of the charm that previous models had.- Awesome camera
- Clean software & 90Hz display
- Motion Sense
- Underwhelming specs
- Poor battery life
- Storage limits
Google Pixel 4 XL review
The Google Pixel 4 XL is still the best Android camera phone… ish...- Excellent point-and-shoot camera
- Astrophotography mode impresses
- Matte glass finish feels great
- Expensive
- given the hardware
- Low storage capacity options
- Occasional UI gremlins
