AC1900 class routers have become the product of choice for folks who think spending $300+ on a router is, uh, nuts. This class is well down the price curve at this point, with many models retailing for $100 or less and some even pretty decent performers.

D-Link DIR-879 AC1900 EXO Wi-Fi Router

The DIR-879 comes with four antennas that can be folded on its top. Even the fastest laptops, tablets and phones have a capped Wi-Fi speed of 1,300Mbps -- no device on the market currently is capable of anything more.

D-Link's external chassis team obviously have a thing for giant robotic spiders, while its marketing team just likes high prices. The DIR-879 fills both needs, looking suitably evil, while carrying a premium street price for its AC1900Mbit/sec capability. Is it worth it though?
