D-Link DIR-879 AC1900 EXO Gaming Router Review
Its design may be a bit offputting to some (personally I love it), but other than that this is about as close to router perfection as you can get, "gaming-ready" or otherwise.
It out performs my old tp-link 1750
Got this Router because my house got hit by lightning and had to replace it. This thing has incredible range compared to my tp link 1750 at least 2-3 times the range. I saw the bad reviews on this but took the chance on it and I am glade I did.
D-Link DIR-879 EXO Wi-Fi Router Dual-Band AC1900, 5 x Gigabit Ethernet Ports, 4 x High-performance Antennas Smart Beam Forming, Smart Connect
ITS A FREKKIN BEAST
Fast, Great Range & Simple Set up, perfect for NBN
This is a great router for NBN, pretty much just plug in and use the D-link app to set up in minutes, very easy. This unit will cover your entire home with no dead spots even in the ensuite! iThe signal goes through walls like they almost aren't even there.
Very Iffy about this purchase.
Right now the Router is running stable, it's a little warm but nothing to be concerned about. I will be purchasing a cheap laptop cooler to make sure it does not overheat. I have played a few hours on World of Warcraft and my latency is about 30 – 40 ms, I get the same results when connected...- ***Update*** 6/22/2017
- -Shame on newegg in regards to packaging
- I understand that the Router comes in a box with some foam padding but I do not understand why the shipping box had padding only on 2 sides of the product
- The Router itself had something loose inside of it
Awesome Wi-Fi
Purchased this to update my NBN connection, covers ever room of the house. The kids are happy
Works great!
Excellent router with the firmware upgrade. Handles multiple 4k TVs and PC gaming towers all gaming at once!
Review: D-link DIR-879 AC1900 EXO Wi-Fi Gigabit router
D-Link's external chassis team obviously have a thing for giant robotic spiders, while its marketing team just likes high prices. The DIR-879 fills both needs, looking suitably evil, while carrying a premium street price for its AC1900Mbit/sec capability. Is it worth it though?
D-Link DIR-879 AC1900 Exo Dual-Band Wi-Fi router review
We're seeing a lot of more expensive Wireless AC routers come onto the market at the moment. With our homes now having so many devices, networking manufacturers see the upgrade market as the big growth area in addition to the increased bandwidth demand from multiple streams including inside the home...- Flexible and fast router
- Easy to set up
- Orange might be garish for some
- No USB port
The D-Link EXO is quite an interesting router in that while it is a full-fledged AC1900 solution, the platform underneath is quite new, to me at least. One thing I can say is the router is built really well as I would expect from D-Link, and while the antennas are integrated, they have introduced...
