Brother MFC-L2740DW Mono Laser All-In-One review

Brother has introduced a range of new laser printers for the SOHO market promising "affordable, compact and reliable" printing. The range includes standalone printers and all-in-ones, with RRPs ranging from just £90 (around $140, AU$165) to £251 (around $390, AU$460) including VAT.

Brother MFC-L2740DW

Prints, scans, faxes, copies; Automatic document feeder; Duplex (two-sided) printing and scanning; Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and Wi-Fi Direct

Output quality is at the low end of the range for monochrome laser MFPs; though it's still acceptable

Brother MFC-L2740DW Review

The Brother MFC-L2740DW ($299.99) delivers a lot more than you might expect from a monochrome laser multifunction printer (MFP) that's small enough to share a desk with. Its speed and paper capacity are suitable for heavy-duty personal use or light- to moderate-duty use as a shared printer in a micro office, and it's packed with features, including duplex (two-sided) scanning. The output quality is at the low end of the range for a monochrome laser, but it's still good enough most business use. If that's acceptable for your needs, the MFC-L2740DW ($630.00 at Amazon) can be a strong contender. Like the Brother MFC-L2700DW ($544.50 at Amazon) , the MFC-L2740DW's suitability for moderate-duty use in a micro office is built primarily on paper handling. For printing, it offers a 250-sheet paper tray, a single-sheet manual feed, and a duplexer (for two-sided printing). For scanning, it offers a letter-size flatbed and a 35-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF) that can handle up to leg...

The biggest strength of this inexpensive mono laser all-in-one is its handling of double-sided documents. (Its print costs are high, and the graphics printing isn't up to snuff.)

Compact for a laser AIO; Built-in ADF; Single-pass duplex copying; scanning; and faxing; Wide range of connectivity options; Handy menu-system shortcuts

Subpar graphics print quality; High per-page print costs for its class

I love all my Brothers!

Brother is the best way to go when it comes to all your printing needs. This is my 4th one. The only reason I bought this is because it's replacing a still perfectly good, 4-year old model that only faxes. .I needed an all-in-one to scan to email.

I donated my MFC-7860DW, reluctantly and decided to purchase what I thought was an upgrade. I have only had this printer for a month and it will NOT stay connected to the wireless network for both of my computers. It constantly goes offline.

Brother MFC-L2740DW Professional 4-in-1 Mono Laser Printer Wi-Fi

Worth every cent I paid for it - considering it's not a massive printer it does have some speed for printing, the declared page speed isn't far off from reality which unlike with some other printers I've used before - it's like with fuel consumption in cars - it is a bit different in real life...

great product, needs slightly better description

I'm sure there are a lot of people that know what a drum is, but there are also a lot of people who don't. I thought it meant a large 12,000 page toner cartridge. I recommend Sam's Club adds to the description a brief blurb that the drum isn't toner, it merely holds the toner.
