Horrible printer

This printer is as good as a paper weight. We have had it several years and have been able to print wirelessly on it less than a handful of times. We've downloaded drivers, reset the printer, reset our modem, etc.

Brother MFC-L2740DW Mono Laser All-In-One review

great product, needs slightly better description

I'm sure there are a lot of people that know what a drum is, but there are also a lot of people who don't. I thought it meant a large 12,000 page toner cartridge. I recommend Sam's Club adds to the description a brief blurb that the drum isn't toner, it merely holds the toner.

My first laser printer

Having struggled with inkjet printers from other manufacturers for years I took the plunge and bought a Brother laser printer. This printer is easy to setup, offers great connectivity working seamlessly with both Apple and Microsoft products and has lots of bonus features.

I would not recommend this product at all

This is my second brother MFC. It always goes "offline" and I then have to turn it off and back on every time I want to print something. I would not recommend this product at all.

Brother MFC-L2740DW Review

The Brother MFC-L2740DW monochrome laser multifunction printer (MFP) is packed with advanced features and is suitable for use as a shared printer or for heavy-duty personal use. The Brother MFC-L2740DW ($299.99) delivers a lot more than you might expect from a monochrome laser multifunction printer (MFP) that's small enough to share a desk with. Its speed and paper capacity are suitable for heavy-duty personal use or light- to moderate-duty use as a shared printer in a micro office, and it's packed with features, including duplex (two-sided) scanning. The output quality is at the low end of the range for a monochrome laser, but it's still good enough most business use. If that's acceptable for your needs, the MFC-L2740DW ($630.00 at Amazon) can be a strong contender. Like the Brother MFC-L2700DW ($544.50 at Amazon) , the MFC-L2740DW's suitability for moderate-duty use in a micro office is built primarily on paper handling. For printing, it offers a 250-sheet paper tray, a single-sheet manual feed, and a duplexer (for two-sided printing). For scanning, it offers a letter-size flatbed and a 35-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF) that can handle up to leg...

  • Automatic document feeder
  • Duplex (two-sided) printing and scanning
  • Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and Wi-Fi Direct
Cons:
  • Output quality is at the low end of the range for monochrome laser MFPs, though it's still acceptable

The biggest strength of this inexpensive mono laser all-in-one is its handling of double-sided documents. (Its print costs are high, and the graphics printing isn't up to snuff.)
Pros:
  • Compact for a laser AIO
  • Built-in ADF
  • Single-pass duplex copying
  • scanning
  • and faxing
  • Wide range of connectivity options
  • Handy menu-system shortcuts
Cons:
  • Subpar graphics print quality
  • High per-page print costs for its class

I donated my MFC-7860DW, reluctantly and decided to purchase what I thought was an upgrade. I have only had this printer for a month and it will NOT stay connected to the wireless network for both of my computers. It constantly goes offline.
