Replaced a 6 year old Brother Color Laser HL-4070CDW (we do not need color for this printer). Was very happy with the dependability and longevity of the old one, so after researching went with the HL-5470DW. It is lightning fast, quiet, was easy to set up on all computers.

The product is very good and the quality and speed are perfect for our use. There are two things that were not positive and the cost was considerably more than I could have gotten from another company that I have purchased equipment from in the past.

The HL5470DW isn't the newest machine on the market but it's definitely one of the best laser printers you can find right now. Sturdy and fast enough to work for multiple users or a single person who generates a lot of output, this Brother MFP boasts speeds of up to 40 ppm with 1200x1200 dpi...

Its a bit on the expensive side for what it does, there are cheaper printers on the site that have the same functions and probably more but if you don't want to over complicate things the this Brother HL-5470DW is a good choice, Brother is a good brand for printers and its also reliable.

I now have two of these, one in my classroom and the other in my office. They print good and are fairly fast. Two problems - first page will have toner on it and there is a thin line of toner on the edges of many of the pages. Oh I guess there are three problems - it is loud!

The print quality and speed is excellent. The printer seems well built and has had no hiccups with paper handling. This printer only gets a 3-star review because I had a terrible experience with Brother's support team.

Poor Support

Had to waste over 2hours on two calls, to Brother tech support to find out that this Model Brother HL-5470DW does not support (Toner Continue Mode) like the [HL-2270DW HL2280DW HL-6180DW} supposedly does? [[[ So they built it into this model to screw-over customers and lock the printer ]]].

If Toner is Not Low; It works ok

This Printer does not support / or have (Toner Continue Mode); So it Stops Printing -Will not let you Print- when "Replace Toner Cartridge" Alert comes up....Most Laser Printers will let you continue to print (the toner just gets lighter and lighter as you use it).

Bought it last month as my ink cartridge dealer recommended. No complaints to make so far.

A solid choice for a small business or workgroup, but Samsung's cheaper ML-3710ND performs just as well
