I have had this for about a month now and no issues. Transfer rates are good as advertised. The drive stays nice and cool, this was a concern when I bought it, but it doesn't produce much heat at all. Overall I am very pleased with this drive, I just hope it lasts. Time will tell.

The rate at which this thing is able to transfer large movies, and other files is impressive. Although I don't use USB 3.0 a lot now, I'm sure that I will upgrade to it in the future, so I'm glad that it comes equipped with 3.0.

– SES driver, if not installed, your system tray/notification area will always have a annoying pop-up saying "Device driver was not successfully installed"

– With USB 3.0 HDD speed is no longer bottlenecked by bus speed

– Being a portable drive there is no rubber bumper to protect the drive from accidental drops

I own three WD My Passport drives. I find them to be very reliable and they also run cool. Definitely recommended.

Does what it needs to, solid, light. Would give it 5 stars if it wasn't for the dodgy software provided which is memory hungry. Probably have to uninstall most of it.

Best external Hard Drive I have ever purchased/owned. 1TB is plenty of space for everything. The Hard Drive fits in my pocket. Fast data transfer rates. Absolutely no noise or heat issues.

I just recently purchased this so the proof is still being vetted (I have not had to rely on it yet to recover data for a crashed main drive - time will tell, although preliminary checks show it is working).

Works fine with Linux, using XHCI. I used this for backups, in addition to a few Toshiba 1TB USB 3 disks. Can't tell the difference in performance between them.
