I have to say that when I was asked to review Stormrise I was very excited. When I was told it was an RTS I was even more excited because I'm an RTS nut job. But the cherry on top of the cream on top of the pecan nut sundae was when I found out it was developed by Creative Assembly.

Creative Assembly attempts to re-invent the RTS. Who told them that would be a good idea?

This game only runs on windows vista! it does not work on any other operating system! So I couldn't even play this (running win7)

Stormrise is one of those games that makes you wonder, "What were they thinking ?" This real-time strategy game is, from top to bottom, misconceived, frustrating, frequently broken, and rarely fun.

Interesting sci-fi universe

Whip select control scheme makes choosing units a chore; Appalling pathfinding leads to micromanagement nightmares; Broken animations and missing visual effects; Total lack of important visual information; Tons of other annoying issues

The control system is pants and very frustrating. Selecting units half way accross the map when you want the guy stood next to you! watching the action is pants and also very frustrating.

Won't run.. Just crashes while installing

This game is Horrible. While the idea behind it works, and some of the mechanics are interesting, the entire controls scheme was designed for a console player and directly ported to computer. As such missions can become impossible as you find it difficult to send enough troops through a breach to make a difference. It could be good, if not for the beyond useless control scheme. Avoid at all costs.

When a huge strategy giant, such as The Creative Assembly, announce a new real time strategy game, a lot of fans are going to be interested. This is especially true when they move away from a setting they are well known for – in The Creative Assembly's case, the Total War series.
