With all the re-invention that the real-time strategy has undergone in recent times, there's greater emphasis on developers to either stay traditional or do it right, should they choose to innovate. In such a time, there's place for a title with good ideas, but bad design.

This is the worst game I've ever played (over 20+ years of gaming). The interface is a crime. You can't freely move the camera. You can't hotkey or easily move between squads you have to flick (whip) your mouse towards them and hope you get the right one. The path finding is hopeless.

If anyone would be able to create a Real Time Strategy experience that interested the ever-elusive console crowd, the safe money would be on Creative Assembly. The UK based developer, famous for the Total War series has built a reputation on delivering immersive, detailed RTS titles.

When I previewed Stormrise , a new real-time strategy title from Creative Assembly , I was hopeful. The game, set in a dystopian future with plenty of ruined cities and stormy skies to enjoy, was designed from the ground up for consoles.

Initially the game won’t install. The installer exits itself before doing anything. I managed to find a method that allows me to install the game which was to install Games for Windows Marketplace. The installer won’t let you install the game if it doesn’t detect Games for Windows live client. So after all that the controls for this game are really poor for PC since it was made with controller (PS3/XBOX360) in mind but won’t provide controller support. I would not recommend buying unless you really want to try this game, it has its unique points.
