Felt like I needed to balance out all the glowing reviews of this product. Regardless of its hefty, DSLR-level price, it is still a consumer-grade product, and a Panasonic at that. I hardly notice any improvement from a 5+ year-old Canon camcorder I normally use, and some definite worries as well.

Great camera!

My first impression was the great video this camera produces - it really is excellent. Now, after using it in several different situations, all I can say is, it is amazing! It manages lighting variations really well in automatic mode, e.g. it does a great job managing back lit subjects.

Good video output.

Great video quality. I originally wanted the 4K version, but this is good enough for my purposes and works quite well in low-ish light. The feature I need is a 3.5 mm connection for an external microphone and this has it. I haven't had a chance to use it much yet, but so far I'm impressed.

"The Next Generation Of Panasonic Camcorder"

The first thing to bring to light is the Panasonic HC-V180 camcorder is nearly identical to both the HC-V270 (2015) and the HC-V250 (2014), with the only difference being the model number, and now, for the HC-V180 The Panasonic HC-V180 is a very basic camcorder in most aspects.

Weighing in at about 8 oz with the battery; this is a very compact

the lack of WiFi capabilities to operate the camcorder from a smart phone app

Still would prefer a DSLR

It has most of what you get with a DSLR and is a lot smaller and lighter weight. Surprisingly good quality footage and a large number of exposure settings. In order to adjust f-stop, shutter, focus, etc, you have to push a lot of menu buttons.

Compact; camera settings

Difficult to use; battery life; crowded menu; no exposure meter

Panasonic HC-V770

The HC-V770 is Panasonic's top HD-only camcorder. Its flagship models, the HC-VX870 and HC-WX970 , have moved up to 4K. If you don't foresee your shooting shifting to the higher resolution anytime soon, however, the HC-V770 could be all you need.

Good value; Comprehensive manual settings with control dial; Wi-Fi connectivity

No lens ring; Small sensor compared to a DSLR; No 4K shooting

High Dynamic Range

A good buy at the sale price. The LCD is readable at any angle. The camera turns on/off by opening/closing the LCD door. It's ready to record in the most recent configuration by opening the LCD door--Just press the record button; press again to stop; close the door to turn off.

The whole family loves this camera

I was looking for a camcorder to take videos of my sons football games and my wife suggested that I look online and this camera popped up as one of the top 5 and she said it'd be good to get a HD camera and this was the best decision that she's ever made this camera is so immaculate the picture...

Easy to Use; Good Image Stabilization; Good in Low Light; Great Picture Quality; Great Sound; Great Zoom; Zoom range/performance
