Apple iPhone 8 Plus Review: A fine phone, but not the exciting iPhone

Apple's release strategy this year is a bit more divisive than past iPhone launches. We're going hands on now with the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, but we're all keeping our sights set on the iPhone X launch later this year.

The most powerful phone hardware of the year; 4k/60FPS video in half the file size; Wireless charging based on an actual standard

Battery life continues to suffer, Not the most durable; Worn and dated design, Flagship pricing, but not Apple's crown jewel for 2017

Apple iPhone 8 Plus Smartphone Review

The iPhone 8 Plus offers slightly more than its smaller sibling . We are not only talking about the pure weight, which is substantial at more than 200 grams (~7 oz), but mainly the dual-camera. The display also features more pixels and you get 1 GB more RAM.

True-Tone display; fast SoC; great camera; accurate GPS; Bluetooth 5.0; high Wi-Fi performance; many LTE bands; water and dust protection; high build quality ..

..; but big and heavy, storage cannot be expanded, only 12 months warranty, no stereo jack, only average speakers, display resolution could be higher, heavier than the predecessor, very limited NFC functionality

Apple iPhone 8 Plus

The iPhone 8 Plus is a great phone with a spectacular camera that offers a lot of what iPhone X has under the hood, but Apple will no doubt release an upgrade later this year.

Fantastic dual-lens camera shoots better than ever with improved portrait mode; Adds wireless charging; Fast speed; Starts at 64GB; Best battery life in the current iPhone line; Still has a home button if that's important to you

Dated look; Lacks some of the extra iPhone X camera features; Large body makes it hard to hold

iPhone 8 and 8 Plus

The iPhone 8 exists simultaneously in two time periods-an emerging future pervaded by innovative new apps incorporating augmented reality and machine learning and a past when LCD displays offered the best quality and the user's relationship to the screen was less emphasized.

The new A11 chip delivers industry-leading performance; Excellent video camera and solid still photos; Future proof for the next new wave of apps and games; Wireless charging adds day-to-day convenience; You'll get excellent software with iOS 11

Design; aesthetics; and bezels lag behind current trends and consumer expectations; Battery life still isn't where most people would want it to be; If you can afford it; it's hard not to justify going with an OLED display these days-and there's no HDR; to boot; Apart from performance; the iPhone 8...

Apple iPhone 8 Plus Review

The name of one phone is rolling off everyone's tongues: iPhone X . The X (pronounced "ten") is Apple's all new design for the iPhone, with an edge-to-edge screen, fancy facial recognition features, and an eye-widening price tag .

Stellar performance; Great camera; fun Portrait Mode features; Wireless charging works well; Great display; Daylong battery

Expensive; Boring; dated front design; No headphone jack

iPhone 8 Plus review: a refined 7 Plus with wireless charging

Wireless charging and pioneering video quality options aside, it's a case of quiet refinement for the 8 Plus, bringing a camera experience that's a little better and improved battery life.

iPhone 8 Plus review: The most powerful smartphone yet

It's obvious why Apple has sided with this over VR, leaving Google's phones to explore that impressive if insular space while AR is more obviously social and inclusive. It fits. Bar that, the only real issues are the inevitable smoothing-out period of a new OS – there are a fair few apps awaiting...

iPhone 8 and 8 Plus Review: Iteration that holds its own

Sitting in the iPhone X's shadow

New camera features are impressive; Qi wireless charging is great; A11 processor is a substantial upgrade over the A10

iPhone X is looming on the horizon; Not a big upgrade over the iPhone 7; Design is showing its age

Great for Weather Spotter!

I decided to try an Apple I-Phone after having a Galaxy S8 and I am so far impressed with the phone. I notice that the phone is very stable. No lagging and the UI is fast. I had to acquaint myself with the Apple layout, but I find it to be simplistic. The 5.5" display is good for me.

LONG Battery Life on Standby; Nice colors displayed; UI is Snappy; Earbuds are excellent; Dedicated Ring/Silence switch; No Bloatware; 11.4.1 Update

Keyboard needs more symbols; Glass Backing; No SD Card slot; Only one resolution option on Camera; No Ringer Silent Icon; Extra Step in deleting Messages

Loving It!

I am so completely pleased with this phone. The photos are incredible in vibrant colors and clarity. I am really happy with the larger screen and memory this purchase offers me Lots of new amenities that my prior phone did not offer.
