Review: Apple iPhone 7 and 7 Plus

Remember when the iPhone was exciting? When every new design and app was an event in itself? When copy-paste was a feature to line up for? Those days are gone. Now, each year's unprecedented combination of incredible technology feels ordinary, even expected. That doesn't mean the magic's gone.

The camera is worth the upgrade, especially on the 7 Plus; There's an absurd amount of processing power inside this phone; Water resistance totally changes the way I treat my iPhone; Developers have a chance to make this phone even better over time

Losing the headphone jack is going to suck for a while; I miss when the home button was a button; I already scratched the jet black model

iPhone 7 review: Apple sets the stage for 2017

"Is the iPhone 7 worth upgrading to?" This is the question I've been asked by friends, family and MobileSyrup readers since the somewhat controversial iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus were revealed.

Sleek new colour options (Jet black and Black; One of the most powerful smartphones on the market; Taptic Engine is great; Waterproof; Camera is incredible; especially in the 7 Plus

No headphone jack (for some; this is a dealbreaker; An iterative update; Screen resolution has not been improved; Jet Black is a fingerprint magnet

Apple iPhone 7 review

The iPhone 7 is polished enough to feel new all over again, headphone port or not

No longer as allergic to water as a Mogwai; A screen that isn't defeated by bright sunshine; Camera quality takes another step up

Battery life still needs work; That Jet Black finish is a total fingerprint magnet; Where's my headphone port

Apple iPhone 7 and 7 Plus review: Are they worth your money?

The Apple iPhone 7 and 7 Plus might not have the bells and whistles or spanking new design of their competitors, but they are still undoubtedly two of the best smartphones in the market. Personally, the dual-camera of iPhone 7 Plus is enough for me to upgrade my iPhone 6s Plus.

iPhone 7 vs Samsung Galaxy S7 comparison review

Which is the best new smartphone money can buy: Apple's brand-new iPhone 7 or Samsung's Galaxy S7?

The biggest changes for the iPhone and iPhone 7 Plus are under the hood with a new home button, a vastly improved camera, a brighter display, improved performance, longer battery life and a water resistant design.

Apple iPhone 7 Smartphone Review

The Apple iPhone 7 will certainly not be remembered as a revolution on the smartphone market. If you believe the rumors, Apple is saving the revolution for the 10th anniversary of the iPhone next year.

very sophisticated and light case; protected against water and dust; comprehensive sensor equipment; many mobile frequencies; intuitive software with useful apps; high WLAN transfer rates; good GPS accuracy; very good camera; very precise control elements; Retina display with great contrast; great...

only 12 months warranty; no 3.5 mm headphone jack; pretty low resolution of the display; NFC only for Apple Pay; pretty expensive; no microSD-slot; voice quality not perfect; noticeable warming; speakers only average

If you already own last year's iPhone 6s or 6s Plus, there's little reason to step up to the seven. Sure there's a fair few improvements, such as the water resistant design and new better-in-low-light camera, but nothing that'll blow your mind.

Water resistant; Strong all-round camera; Decent battery life; Solid performance

Apple iPhone 7

The Apple iPhone 7 keeps the same look as the previous model, but is now water-resistant and comes in a Jet Black colour option. The iPhone 7 is faster, with more memory, a better camera and longer battery life, but the price has gone up again. Oh, and the headphone jack has been removed.

Controversy. Apple loves it. It fuels it and it's fueled by it. Rarely is brand hate more vocal and yet people stand in line to get the latest phone. It's part of the marketing game, and it has somehow always worked in Apple's favor.
