Apple iPad 2: Tablet Is Thinner, Lighter, Faster to Use

The Apple iPad 2 is neither a revolution nor a revelation. Rather, it's an evolutionary bump over its predecessor, which is enough for iPad 2 to be...

The iPad 2 Review

With properly calibrated expectations--think minor refresh, rather than next generation--the iPad 2 continues Apple's reign as the king of tablets. If you haven't bought one yet, the iPad 2 is a stellar device that still feels like a little slice of science fiction come true.

New A5 chip and RAM significantly improve overall performance, and gaming in particular; Dual cameras work fine for video calls; Thinner, lighter unibody looks slick and makes the iPad more comfortable to use.

No transformative new features; Display is unchanged, so it still isn't usable in bright sunlight and attracts lots of smudgy fingerprints; Cameras yield poor, low-res photos; Using cameras is often difficult and requires awkward grip; No support for 4G cellular data.

Hands-on-Review: The Apple iPad 2

The iPad 2 feels so noticeably thinner and lighter, you might easily mistake it for being disposable. Like a paper plate or a plastic cover, it triggers the habit to want to just toss it away once you're done with it. How many gadgets have I watched slim down to nothing? And yet it never gets old.

Apple iPad 2 Review

I received the original Apple iPad on release day last year, thanks to Julie's very generous gift. I love that iPad even more than my beloved green Handspring Visor Deluxe from years ago, and it was that little Visor that first introduced me to my equally beloved ebooks.

Slimmer and lighter than original iPad; Faster than original iPad and other tablets currently on the market; Many configurations available; so you can choose the storage and connectivity you need; Lowest tablet prices currently on the market

Low-res cameras; iPad 2 is difficult to use as a hand-held camera because of its size and weight and the placement of the shutter button

Apple iPad 2 review

The second generation iPad is a revision of the original, and it's a shame the screen hasn't been upgraded, but it's still incredibly quick

Apple iPad 2 review Review

Apple's iPad 2 is faster, lighter, thinner and better than its predecessor. But, if you want a tablet with Flash support and greater flexibility, an Android device may be a better bet.

Thinner and lighter than ever; Plenty of apps available; Front and rear cameras; Easy to use

No Flash support; Complex tasks are fiddly and take time; Difficult to transfer non-iTunes content back and forth

Apple iPad 2 review: Love and hate 2.0

The Apple iPad 2 is about to hit European shelves, fresh form a diet and exercise regime that's helped it shed weight and build muscle. Faster, thinner and lighter is an accurate account of what's been going on in the year that divides the two editions of Apple's tablet.

9.7" capacitive IPS touchscreen display with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels; oleophobic coating, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n connectivity, Optional 3G connectivity (data only, Optional GPS with A-GPS support, Apple A5 SoC - 1 GHz dual-core ARM Cortex A9 processor, PowerVR SGX543MP2 graphics, 512MB RAM,...

iTunes required for uploading content; No Flash support in the web browser; Poor still cameras – though; really; this thing isn't meant for taking candids; No standard USB port; No kickstand – it cannot stand on a table without the help of a dock stand or a Smart cover; Non replaceable battery; No...

Apple iPad 2 Review

Reading this iPad 2 review, you may have thought to yourself that I'm merely picking up on all the positives, neglecting any real issues with the device. You would be half right. Yes I've been waxing lyrical about the iPad 2, but bar a few irrelevancies with the camera and inevitabilities such as...

Apple iPad 2 Review

In some ways, this new edition of the iPad is a subtle refinement, in other ways a drastic expansion of its functionality and its very intent, allowing us to create and communicate with technology which simply was not available in the initial effort.

Sleeker than ever; Enhanced feature set including two (!

Still no Flash video support; Charging still slow; still can't be performed via connection to computer

iPad 2 Review

Apple have a strong brand. When I say strong it's more like concrete. This is a brand that shows no sign of getting dented. Signal problems being fixed by a rubber, tracking information being stored ? It's not done anything to dampen the enthusiasm of customers.
