2025 Goals: Shop 6 At-Home Fitness Essentials
Improving your fitness routine is a common new year's goal for many. Our health and well-being are so important. Keeping fit and moving our bodies often can foster our overall well-being by keeping our heart and muscles healthy and strong, and by releasing serotonin and dopamine – hormones that reduce stress and contribute to a better mood and quality of life.
But sometimes, a gym membership isn’t realistic for our weekly budget. The journey to the gym can be an obstacle for many, making it that little bit harder to get moving. If you’d like to get moving, without signing up for a gym, and with to put together your own fitness set-up, we have the list of home fitness essentials.
1. Treadmill
Whether you want to increase your daily steps or improve your cardiovascular fitness and become a better runner, a treadmill is an essential part of any fitness set up. You can place it in front of the TV to distract yourself or bump your favourite tunes or podcast, and get stuck into some movement that gets the heart pumping.
2. Rowing Machine
A rowing machine is a great way to target your entire body. Train your arms, legs, abdominals and heart and lung health by getting stuck into a solid rowing session. You can challenge yourself to go faster or for longer each time to see yourself grow and improve over time. This is another great way to get a full body workout no matter the weather.
3. Kettlebells
Whether you are just beginning to lift weights, or are a seasoned athlete, kettlebells are an incredible way to strengthen your bones and muscles. They come in a range of different weights so you can gradually progress, and become stronger. You can use them to improve the strength of various muscle groups too, including legs, back and abdominal muscles.
4. Yoga Mat
Yoga mats are great for boosting grip for a range of floor exercises. Whether you want to embark on pilates, ab exercises, or a peaceful yoga session, a yoga mat is a great addition to your fitness set up at home.
5. Foam Roller
Perfect for alleviating stress and tight muscles, a foam roller or two should absolutely be added to your home gym. They can help reduce delayed onset muscle soreness, and simply feel great on sore and tired muscles.
6. Core Roller
A killer abdominal muscle tool, core rollers are designed to help you stretch out those core muscles and engage them. There are plenty of online tutorials to help you learn to do this exercise. Be sure to watch them carefully before you give the exercise a try.
