Works well, good price for WD reliability which is at the upper spectrum for HDD data.

Working great, this WHOLE week!
The hard drive just arrived a week ago. It was and is everything I was expecting it to be. It could last for 50 years or 50 days, I just don't know yet, but B&H sent me an email requesting I review it, so here it is. I'm sure you've found this review ridiculously helpful.

Works as expected
No issues with this drive. I like the 'frustration-free' packaging, and the fact that it did not come preloaded with dumpster-ware. It was a true plug-n-play experience. I use the drive for data backup on two laptops running Windows 10, and to that end I use Microsoft's free tool, "SyncToy", which...

My first external, and a great choice.
I've read another review stating that this drive requires paid software " which you must use to operate the drive," and there's a lot of misinformation to that. This drive comes with trial software for cloud storage.
Pros:
- I've only been using it for a week, but so far it works swimmingly
- My usb ports are 2.0, but the speeds on it are great and I've been running current gen games off of it with zero issues
- For anyone in dire need of space but you don't want to replace your main drive quite yet, this is a good option
Cons:
- The case feels a tad thin and the cable it's packed in is a bit more than a foot long
- It goes without saying but try not to drop this thing
- You might want to look into buying another cable if you want to place your external somewhere farther away

Do small and light, bought a 10 ft cord ...
Do small and light, bought a 10 ft cord to go with it so I can keep it tucked away in drawer and use with whatever device. Con: can,t connect directly to Samsung s2 tablet directly, literally no way, issue is power and no special cord to supplement power that connects to s2 (am sure on this)
