A good game in need of a lot of polish. The story is pretty good and the writing is solid. The combat is competent. For those unfamiliar with this genre but are familiar with XCOM: Enemy Unknown/Within, it's similar but definitely not the same.

received as described, Thanks
Got it a couple weeks ago and its a look down game not my cup of tea
I played Wasteland on the PC and I'm several hours into the Director's Cut on the PS4 and I prefer the Director's Cut so far. It looks beautiful and runs super smooth. I did have some trouble with the controlls initially, such as using items on my team members but after a while I got the hang of it.
We were pretty happy when Bryan Fargo and his team over at inXile Entertainment brought us a remake of the classic Wasteland with Wasteland 2 last year . It was even nominated for the GiN role-playing game of the year by readers. But it wasn't quite perfect.
Despite its status as one of the more notable Kickstarter successes, Wasteland 2 is a title that, by all rights, should not exist. Though hailed as one of the great classics of the role-playing pantheon, the original post-apocalyptic Wasteland never saw a proper sequel since its 1988 release, as...
At this point Wasteland 2 is more or less a known quantity. It's one of the pillars of the Kickstarter generation of nostalgia-driven pseudo-remakes. Wasteland 2 is basically an updated version of the original Wasteland, a top-down RPG that inspired the subsequent and quite similar Fallout series.
Improved visuals; Voice acting; New character traits; New customization options
Core gameplay unchanged; Previous owners may not want
Wasteland 2: Director's Cut is the ultimate, superior version of an already awesome role-playing game that console owners can experience for the first time. If you're itching for an old-school CRPG with tons of branching dialogue and quest choices, turn-based tactical combat and a ton of stats and...
+ Tactical turn-based combat; + Perks and quirks; + Branching dialogue and questlines
- Character models, portraits lacking, - On-screen text tiny, - A.I; pathfinding issues
InXile's classical RPG translates beautifully to console, and should be picked up by RPG fans – even those neck deep in that other big post-apocalyptic title.
Gigantic, well-built and evocative game world; Excellent voice acting; Solid turn-based combat system; Chock full of weighty moral choices with both emotional and story consequences; Great controller support
A bit dated graphically and in one or two mechanical ideas
Imperfections aside, Wasteland 2 is a compelling, bleak and darkly hilarious post-apocalyptic RPG that adds something a little different for the PS4's roster.
