GAME REVIEW – Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (PlayStation 3)

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception is the quintessential PlayStation 3 game. It has it all: breathtaking graphics, glorious sound, stereoscopic 3D (if you have a TV that supports it), and rock solid gameplay that makes you feel like you are Nathan Drake. What's more, it has real heart.

Uncharted 3 – Drake's Deception

Lara Croft is so passé. The undisputed queen of raiding has been replaced by Nathan Drake, an everyday man with a penchant for danger and an amicable shoot first or rather jump first, ask questions later mentality.

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Review

Uncharted 2 will stand the test of time as one of the seminal achievements in modern videogames, creating an exciting narrative interwoven with gameplay filled with production values and action set pieces that put to shame the paint-by-numbers American films that have been filling movie theaters for...

Seamless flow between gameplay and cinematics; Gorgeous set pieces and a beautiful world to explore; Improved melee system

Many of the plot points never go anywhere; Multiplayer seems tacked on; Lives in the shadow of Uncharted 2

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception review

It can't be easy being a console's premier franchise; after Uncharted 2 knocked it out of the park two years ago, expectations for Nathan Drake's next adventure have been running sky-high.

Amazing visuals; now enhanced by 3D; Shooting and climbing fine-tuned to near-perfection; Endgame isn't as silly as previous games

Some of the bigger action scenes feel strangely flat; Chloe and Elena feel underutilized; No chopper battles; except in co-op

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Review

Is it possible to have your expectations raised too high? Uncharted 2: Among Thieves delivered a monumental leap over the first game in the series, and it might be easy to fall into the trap of assuming the same advancements would take place in every subsequent release.

Lots of exciting tactics in combat; Expertly designed levels reward experimentation; Great pacing; Excellent presentation including visuals; voice acting; and music; Exciting competitive and cooperative play

Slight AI flaws; Stiff platforming limits creativity

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception

Nathan Drake is back for yet another breathtaking adventure. Is Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception the best chapter in the series thus far?

Great production values; great level design; good multiplayer modes; something for everyone

Complicated and poorly told story; sluggish camera; gameplay gets a little too familiar

Uncharted 3 Review

If you were being cynical you could say that Uncharted 3 is a misnomer. In fact a lot is charted; you navigate through levels by climbing up walls, jumping from ledges and swinging from chandeliers.

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception PS3 Review

Drake's Deception hits a sweet spot. It takes everything I love about the Uncharted franchise and finds new, unpredictable ways to surprise and shock. There isn't anything notably bad about Uncharted 3, it provides an absolutely stunning single player experience that its contemporaries should...
