Uncharted 3 review: PS3 graphics pushed to their limit, and a plot spanning the Arabian Peninsula

With so many big games being released as multiformat titles, you may start to wonder why you opted for an Xbox 360 or a PS3. There haven't been many games recently that were an exclusive for your console.

Sublime game engine; beautiful graphics; Plot cues drawn from Arabian myth; takes place in Arabian Peninsula; Updated gameplay; Plot and characters

Multiplayer won't last; PS3 Exclusive

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Review

It’s no secret that I’m a big Uncharted fan and that Nathan Drake is one of my favorite characters in all of gaming. There’s just something about the ensemble of characters that Naughty Dog has assembled...

+ Varied; beautiful locales; + Fantastic score; + Improved melee combat; + Characters; story and voicing are top notch

Aiming/shooting sluggish; Fewer and shorter puzzles

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Review

The original Uncharted was an enjoyable action/adventure game, but its sequel shattered expectations back in 2009. Now that Uncharted 3 has arrived those expectations have gone through the roof.

More melee combat and puzzle-solving results in better pacing; Features the best villain in the series; Improved multiplayer suite

Not as many jaw-dropping moments as its predecessor

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Review

Uncharted 2 will stand the test of time as one of the seminal achievements in modern videogames, creating an exciting narrative interwoven with gameplay filled with production values and action set pieces that put to shame the paint-by-numbers American films that have been filling movie theaters for...

Seamless flow between gameplay and cinematics; Gorgeous set pieces and a beautiful world to explore; Improved melee system

Many of the plot points never go anywhere; Multiplayer seems tacked on; Lives in the shadow of Uncharted 2

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception review

It can't be easy being a console's premier franchise; after Uncharted 2 knocked it out of the park two years ago, expectations for Nathan Drake's next adventure have been running sky-high.

Amazing visuals; now enhanced by 3D; Shooting and climbing fine-tuned to near-perfection; Endgame isn't as silly as previous games

Some of the bigger action scenes feel strangely flat; Chloe and Elena feel underutilized; No chopper battles; except in co-op

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception

I was really looking forward to playing Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception . While I loved the original Uncharted , I did agree with some people that it felt a little repetitive, especially towards the end. With Uncharted 2 , though, Naughty Dog pulled out all the stops and got everything right.

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Review

Uncharted 3 sets the bar for adventure games, it's an epic journey that you'll want to relive over and over again.

Brilliant characters and storyline; Breathtaking set-pieces and scripted sequences; High quality production makes you feel you're the star of your own movie

Some of the boring logic-based puzzles; Some of the strange A.I.

The iVideo Game Apple would've Made

A middle-aged Sully convincing a teenage Drake to stay with him. There has to be some international law against that.

My son telling me to jump back onto my horse after I chased down a moving truck with it; jumped into the back; and took out a bad guy

You'd think Drake has Wolverine-like healing powers after crashing through the floor for the umpteenth time

Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception (PS3)

When the critically acclaimed Uncharted 2: Among Thieves released, at the time I thought that this was the best the Uncharted franchise could ever be. They redefined the standard for the franchise and oh boy, was that standard high.
