Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) is the latest game in what is quite a long list inspired by the popular comic book and TV series, this time based on the Nickelodeon cartoons, and seems to trade more on the name and brand recognition than on quality.

Growing up, I spent countless hours watching the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) cartoons and playing the games on Nintendo. It was one of the few games that my brother and I could play that helped us stop fighting for two seconds and enjoy some time together.

I'm sure you remember this game if you grew up in the nineties. It was all over in arcades. You went up to it and put your quarter in and played until you lost your life. Same game. If you were a kid in the 80's or 90's chances are you were into the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Late last week, we had a chance to bring you a hands-on preview of TMNT , the Ubisoft game starring everyone's favorite weapon-wielding reptiles. Based on the upcoming CGI movie, the game brings fans a brand-new adventure, complete with some new villains and new moves for our heroes.

Parents need to know that this game is directly based on Nickelodeon's CGA-based show of the same name: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles . Although the four main heroes are noble and brave and fight against evil, they do use weapons and fists to defeat enemies.

TMNT is one of those Live Arcade games that will likely send old fans all atwitter with nostalgic delight and cause new players to scratch their heads and wonder what all the fuss was about.

TMNT, the game based on the recently released Ninja Turtles movie, falls strictly under the 'made for under 10s' heading. While some of us twenty-somethings have fond memories of the Turtles, the new movie wasn't made for us and neither was the game.

Kids are easy to please. Whether it's something shiny, cute, really fluffy or all of the above, it's almost sure to entertain them. So it seems rather odd that children from all over the world have taken quite a liking to a bunch of teenage mutant ninja turtles (you heard that right, ninjas ).
