Tales Of Berseria review – embrace the dark side
A much more interesting story and lead character than usual for the series, but the weak script and aging combat system fail to make the most of it.
Pros:
- A genuine attempt to do something new in terms of the plot, and Velvet and Eleanor are compelling characters
- Combat system is still leagues above most other JRPGs
Cons:
- …but you've seen and played it all too many times before, and the bland quest and dungeon design makes even just following the main storyline a chore
- Generally poor dialogue and acting

I almost never write reviews. The main thing I can say about this game is buy it. The story and characters are very memorable. This is my first Tales game and my mind was blown.

The Tales series is truly something special to me and has been since playing my first ‘Tales of' title on the PSP, Tales of Eternia . The series has been around since the mid 90's and has since spawned 16 titles in its main line series as well as multiple spin-offs.
Pros:
- Battle system | Good character development | Superb soundtrack
Cons:
- Can't take screenshots (Come on Bandai Namco) | Linear in areas you would love to have explored more deeply
