TP-Link has been on a roll this year, releasing one new router after the other. The Archer C7 is their 802.11ac model. We tested it to find out how this AC1750 router fares against the more expensive routers from the competition. In terms of design, TP-Link has a clear idea of what it's going for.

There has been a steady interest in TP-LINK's first attempt at an AC1750 class router, the Archer C7 , which we reviewed about a year ago. I suspect one reason is its sub-$100 price, which I think is the lowest of any AC1750 router.

Easy to setup, disappointing performance

We've been using an Asus RT-N66U for a couple of years with no complaints -- terrific coverage and max speeds from our Verizon Fios Internet service. Yet, all of the recent media hype over AC1750 caught my attention, and I decided to give the Archer C8 a try.
Pros:
  • Easy To Set Up
Cons:
  • Poor Signal Strength
  • Slow Connection Speed

TP-Link Archer C7 Wi-Fi Router, Dual-Band Wireless-AC1750, 4 x GLAN, 1 x WAN, 1 x USB2.0

This is a great router, when it's working right. It has a good range of features and options. The wireless performance is quite good. BUT, the 5GHz network periodically just fails under load. Restarting the 5GHz network seems to only be achievable through a power cycle.
