Seems to be very good for the money. Seriously faster than my old D-Link, and always available, which the D-Link struggled with. Great range of feature add-ons as well. Recommended.

it didn't work... done like the os interface....
A friend of mine recommended this unit and it has been really great so far. Super easy installation and very user friendly. I am really happy with the unit.
This is the 4th NAS I have owned, and by far the worst. Setup #1 attempt: Software found the device on my home network, got to the last step of installation (setting up it's apps), and sat there for 8 hours (I went to bed after an hour, still hourglass when I woke up).
Looks nice; Has a power button
Everything else
I have used a few NAS boxes in the past, and found them fairly unfriendly and unforgiving in use. This is much easier to use, and much more flexible as well, with a wide range of options and a goon control center web app.
The product seemed to work but was poorly organized from an installation point. I don't say this lightly because I'm a computer science professor and it was very weak. I didn't give it 1 star because it works, but needing to use tech support which wasn't much better was not a good way to kick start...
Very good product.. Meets my expection. Must have for building home NAS system.
I owned a DLINK DNS325 NAS it was not user friendly and slow with limited capabilities. The DS216SE is much faster and with much more capabilities. The cloud backup is so useful in making duplicate copies of directories from MAC to Nas once setup forget about it.
Great NAS and much more; Easy setup and great apps
Delivery was longer than expected especially after paying for expedited post; NCIX took 2 days prior shipping
I set this up and installed the software from the manufacturer, per the instructions. It installed the current software. The system then ran incredibly slowly, and still stutters just straight-up streaming files over SMB.
Synology's DS216se doesn't blow anyone away with its specifications, but we still saw a 2-bay NAS that performed very well in our benchmarks. Naturally the hardware has its limits and you shouldn't be running the most CPU intensive apps on it.
Price; Good Performance for an entry model; Award Winning DSM Operating System; Low power consumption
Slow speeds for encrypted folders; Only USB 2.0 ports and no USB 3.0
