South Park: The Stick of Truth Review | Send in the New Kid

This generation of consoles hasn't had the best run for licensed tie-ins or traditional RPG experiences. And now, as it winds to a close, the two genres get one last chance in an odd-sounding hybrid. A South Park RPG. How do you fit South Park into an RPG experience?

Nails the look and fantastic humour of the show; Lots of amusing fan-pleasing quests to complete; Combat is full of neat touches

Nails the look and fantastic humour of the show, Lots of amusing fan-pleasing quests to complete, Combat is full of neat touches, So many loading screens and some odd slowdown, Not many new moves to unlock in combat, I f**cking hate Mr; Hankey

South Park The Stick of Truth

A great game for South Park fans. Tons of references to episodes from the show and jokes that South Park fans will love. The gameplay is turnbased and surprisingly good. It really is an all-round amazing game that should be played by both RPG lovers and South Park lovers.

South Park: The Stick of Truth – An old-school RPG meets contemporary comedy

Continuing our coverage from a recent THQ junket in Sydney that started with the super-impressive-looking Company of Heroes 2 and followed on with the equally notable Darksiders II , we now present to you South Park: The Stick of Truth.

South Park: The Stick of Truth

Stick of Truth is South Park's Arkham Asylum--a triumph of a licensed game that manages to fit in line with the franchise while paving new ground in gaming. In this case, the new ground is dick jokes--still, innovation is innovation.

Fantastically funny story; Deep customization options; Visual style that makes it look just like the show

Gameplay is a little basic; Combat gets repetitive by the end

Never Fart on a Man's Balls

Breathe easy, fans of South Park -the long awaited Stick of Truth has finally arrived, and more importantly, it's one of those rare licensed games that's actually good. After clearing what could have been several fatal hurdles (including the bankruptcy of publisher THQ) the game arrived on store...

The game nails the feel and tone of a South Park episode perfectly, minus all the bleeping; It's hilarious

The occasional bout of slowdown can be annoying

South Park: The Stick of Truth hands-on preview

South Park's caustic wit and indiscriminate satire is present and politically incorrect in this promising RPG

South Park: The Stick of Truth Review

The South Park franchise hasn't had the easiest of rides when it comes to video games. The last one I remember playing was a First Person Shooter on the N64, which wasn't great. South Park: The Stick of Truth, however, is an RPG developed by Obsidian that has been garnering quite a bit of attention.

Very funny; Looks & sounds fantastic; The battle system; Extremely enjoyable to play

The frame rate; Slow to navigate map; Will the length of the game put people off

South Park: The Stick of Truth Review

The Stick of Truth makes one thing abundantly clear: I never want to play another video game made without Trey Parker and Matt Stone's direct, intimate involvement. With a controller in your hand, you are almost literally – gloriously – playing a 14-hour episode of South Park.

Feels just like the show, Light but fun RPG systems, Legitimately funny, Canada; Just...Canada

Classes too similar

Bigger, Longer, And Cut

When I was but a wee boy, definitely too young to be playing it, I remember playing South Park 64 and being appalled at the travesty put in front of me. As a ten-year old at the time my standards were probably about as sky-high as my height, and I still accepted that this was the pits.

Non-stop laughs; Breakneck pace; South Park brought to life

Surplus fart jokes; Simplistic mechanics

South Park: The Stick of Truth Review

Let's get super cereal, shall we? South Park: The Stick of Truth is the closest there is to an interactive South Park film. It nails the animated television show's look, its humor, and its obsession with the human anus.

Nails the South Park humor and aesthetic; Great writing that doesn't rely on references to the show to be funny

Easy; short; and shallow
