Top form: Sony's 4G Full HD Xperia Z reviewed

The 2013 crop of flagship smartphones has arrived, and Sony's Xperia Z is the first, bringing with it a 1080p Full HD screen measuring 5 inches diagonally, 13 megapixel camera, and a build quality that should survive your everyday life. Is it Sony's best phone yet?

A water resistant flagship smartphone is pretty cool; Great performance from the processor and connection; Camera handles decently in darker environments; Small apps can be very useful

Can prove hard to hold; SIM card tray is a little flimsy and hard to reach

Sony brand and Ads are good so is the water/dust proof features but not the display . i feel this phone is just a copy of Optimus-G(E975 same hardware as Nexus4 ) . So better to buy E975 or if you have more money go for HTC one another option is wait for Nexus 5 / Optimus G Pro / G2 Google the...

Sony Xperia Z

The Sony Xperia Z is Sony's flagship Android smartphone, and this time they really mean it. Previous Sony and Sony Ericsson Android smartphones have always lacked truly all around high end specs, but the Xperia Z has all the right ingredients.

Attractive design; full HD 5" display; pleasing UI and software customizations

All glass phones make us nervous; no 4G LTE in US for unlocked model

Great balance of performance, style, quality, feel and features

Sony has put their all into this phone but it may not be the most powerful phone (not far from it though)but it has a good balance of style, performance and features unlike something like the galaxy s3 or s4 which are just plain ugly. An elegant phone it is that has a few tricks up it's sleeve.

After sticking to dual cores for more than a year, Sony has finally moved up a level in hardware terms and is taking on the competition with its first quad core smartphone – the Xperia Z. But has it come too late to the spec party?

Not your everyday phone. It's not every day that you use a smartphone in heavy rain without a care, but the Sony Xperia Z is not an everyday phone. The Xperia Z is Sony's current flagship android smartphone featuring IP55/IP57 dust and water resistance with toughened glass on the front and back.

Sony Xperia Tablet Z review: Stepping up

The Xperia Tablet Z gets a prominent spot in a long list of iconic designs by Sony. Easily one of the best looking tablets around, the Z inherits the slim, water-resistant design of its smartphone counterpart, which earns it extra points with the outdoor-loving crowd.

6.9mm slim tablet with IP57 certification, dust and water resistant (up to 1m for 30 minutes, 10.1" 16M-color TFT capacitive touchscreen of WUXGA resolution (1920 x 1200 pixels); Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2, 1.5 GHz quad-core Krait CPU, Adreno 320, 2GB RAM, Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 chipset, Android

Runs an older Android version; Screen has poor outdoor visibility; Audio output quality is not on par with other tablets on the market; Uses a previous generation chipset; slightly slower than the current best; 6,000mAh battery isn't very big for a 10.1" tablet

With the launch of the Xperia Z last month, Sony upped its game beyond what I'd expected, offering a phone that was different, sexy, capable, and very fast. It was different because it was water-resistant and dustproof; sexy because of its Gorilla Glass backing and gorgeous Full HD screen; capable...

Sony Xperia Z review

Sony hasn't had a truly stunning smartphone for a while but the Xperia Z should qualify - at least on paper. It sports a 5-inch 1080p (441ppi) display on top of a 1.5GHz Snapdragon quad-core S4 processor and 2GB of RAM alongside an impressive 13MP camera that's also HD video-capable.

Premium construction powerful great camera

Weird power nipple terrible 4G battery life

Sony Xperia Z Camera Review: Do impressive specs measure up?

The Sony Xperia Z is a powerful Android phone with a razor-sharp full HD screen. Its full-featured native camera app offers a lot of flexibility but could stand some refinement. The 13MP photos it captures are generally satisfying at web and screen resolutions, but closer examination reveals image quality that lags the best, with a lack of fine detail even in good light. A thin, hard-edged design and lack of a dedicated camera button make for unsatisfying photographic ergonomics. The Xperia Z is a very capable phone, but ardent mobile photographers may be better served by other options.

Good exposure in most situations; Decent flash performance; Attractive design and good build quality; Water- and dust-proof; Extensive manual control in camera app; Good responsiveness; Integrated HDR and panorama functions; Fast burst mode; HDR video mode; Very sharp screen; Micro-SD slot offers storage expansion;

Image quality lags the best in all conditions; Processing artifacts and strong noise reduction smear fine detail; Slightly soft video output; No hardware shutter button; Mediocre ergonomics; Camera app can be a little fiddly; Exposure can’t be linked to focus point; Mediocre screen visibility in bright light; Editor only saves low-resolution images;
