This lens is exactly what I've wanted. It's a 36mm equivalent, opens at 1.8. It's the perfect walk-around lens. Sharpness Beautiful center at f1.8, beautiful everywhere at f2.8, perfect at f4.

"I have been using this on the NEX-7 for about 1 month. All I can say is the results are jaw-dropping. I always store my camera with this attached. It is my ""go-to"" lens for indoors and my favorite lens overall. Pros:The only NEX lens that does the 24mp NEX-7 justice.

Not cheap

As a matter of personal standards, I never reduce a product's rating for anything you can clearly see in pictures or read in descriptions. I knew I was buying a thousand dollar lens, so I won't dock an egg for that. I could see that the box looked just like the paperboard box that my camera was in.

This lens has amazing optical quality; The pictures it takes are amazing; Even the low-light shots are leagues better than the kit lens; Autofocus is smooth, quick, and quiet

I'll list it as a con, but it doesn't affect my rating; The lens is expensive; I paired it with a NEX-5N, so the lens by itself is more expensive than my camera was (I purchased the camera when it was released--paid around $700 I believe).

CA levels a touch high towards the edges of the frame

The is a reason most photojournalist make a fast 35mm their go-to optic: It will cover most situations and most lighting conditions encountered. The 24mm Carl Zeiss works out to the same acceptance angle on the APC sensor of the Sony NEX cameras as a 35mm lens on a full-frame digital or film camera.

Incredible resolution; even wide-open! Have yet to find any flare or ghost images in my pix - many shot into sun

Expensive; as it costs more than the body

The other reviewers are spot on. Their technical description of this lenses attributes are spot on. What I will add is that this is my go to street photography lens. I was a little leary as I really wanted a 35mm walking around prime lens. I am not disappointed at all.
