PlayStation Vita

PlayStation Vita proves the day of the handheld console is not over!

Near PS3-quality 3D graphics; Great mix of traditional; touchscreen and motion controls; Dazzling sub-HD OLED screen; Strong built-in apps and exciting games line-up

Expensive for a handheld; Unimpressive battery life; Minor issues with Remote Play and media support

Sony PS Vita Review: It Does Not Disappoint

The PlayStation Vita doesn't hit Australia until February 23, but it's now arrived in Japan. And Kotaku has already spent some quality hands-on time for this in-depth first look!

Sony's PlayStation Vita represents the company's second entry into the volatile handheld gaming market. The original PlayStation Portable found reasonable success as a largely traditional system,...

Review: Sony PlayStation Vita

The most distinguishing feature of the PlayStation Vita , Sony's new portable game machine, may go unnoticed at first glance. The thing Sony is banking on occupies a tiny little area on the face of the unit, roughly a square centimeter in size. Do you see it?

Big, bright screen; Console-quality graphics; Comfortable to hold and play at length; Dual analog controls; Touch-based user interface is a winner

No internal storage; Requires expensive proprietary memory sticks (even for some cartridge games!); Only one account per system allowed; Expensive games with no cheap options (yet)

Sony PlayStation Vita review

Let's not beat around the bush; we like the PlayStation Vita, we like it a lot. In fact, we're happy to say that we have never fallen for a handheld games console as much as we have the PS Vita. It is to hardcore gamers what a Penny Black is to a philatelist.

The most powerful portable games console around; superb 5-inch 16:9 OLED touchscreen; light yet durable; as fast as an injury lawyer at a house fire in most circumstances; genuine effort to expand its remit beyond mere gaming

Rear multi-touch pad takes a lot of getting used to; front and rear camera qualities are nothing to write home about; game loading times can be painful; battery life is just 3 hours for gameplay (although better than the 3DS

Sony PlayStation Vita review

The PlayStation Vita is the portable console that hardcore gamers have been waiting for. It trumps the Nintendo 3DS and smartphone competition in raw power, graphics and quality of titles, while the dual analogue sticks and rear touchpad controls provide lots of room for future innovation.

Sony PS Vita vs Samsung Galaxy Note – what should you choose for gaming on the go

Portable gaming consoles were big for the past decade, but with the release of the iPhone, everything started to change. No longer were smartphones only devices for calls, emails and work – they also started getting powerful GPUs that could be used for running graphics and 3D apps, which of course...
