Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM

Super sharp. Great zoom lens. A little on the pricey side from Sony but all in all very nice.

Outstanding Detail

I'm very happy with the detail in my photos. I had the Sony Zeiss f4 16-35mm previously, with which I was very happy. However, the the photo quality I'm getting now from the G Master version is definitely superior. I don't know if it's worth all the extra money, but I do think this is a better lens.

As sharp as a prime

This super-wide zoom lens is as sharp as a prime at all focal lengths, extremely resistant to flair and doesn't soften when used wide open. The perfect super-wide imaging tool.

Miracle of a lens

First of all, its already mind blowing enough that a f/2.8 zoom weighs in at 680g. On top of that, throw in the optical quality of arguably the best wide angle zoom of all time, and what you have is seemingly a miracle of a lens for which a $2200 price tag starts to seem reasonable.

Light and High Resolution Lens

It is a light and high resolution lens, better than Sony 24-70mm F2.8 GM Lens. I use it for the wedding events with great results.

Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM

The Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM is a high-end, ultra-wide zoom with a large, constant maximum aperture of f/2.8 throughout the zoom range. While it features many of Sony’s most advanced features, the lens I’m reviewing today is only the first generation of the lens, and Sony also has a “GM II” version...
Pros:
  • Best-in-class flare and distortion performance, Strong sharpness throughout the zoom and aperture range, Very fast autofocus with good low-light focusing capabilities, Excellent build quality with good weather sealing, Advanced handling features befitting a professional lens, Less expensive than...
Cons:
  • Noticeable field curvature at the longer focal lengths, An extending barrel when zooming is not ideal for working in harsh conditions
