Sony FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM Lens - Brand New review
I knew right from the start that reviewing this lens would not be an easy task. Would I end up rejecting it because of its size and weight or would I transcend the “mirrorless camera = small” concept and appreciate the qualities it has to offer? I admit that it is a tough call.

Sony FE 16-35mm f2.8 GM review-so-far
Sony's FE 16-35mm f2.8 G Master is a wide zoom for its e-mount mirrorless cameras, and corrected for use on full-frame bodies. Announced in May 2017, it completes a ‘trinity' of Sony's G Master lenses with f2.8 focal ratios, joining the earlier FE 24-70mm f2.8 and 70-200mm f2.8.

I was lucky enough to spend some time shooting with the brand new Sony 16-35mm f/2.8 G Master Lens during a short trip to Italy. I used the lens with Sony’s newest full-frame mirrorless Alpha, the Sony A9.

Another lens in the premium G Master range, suitable for all full frame FE mount and APS-C E mount Sony cameras, this new 16-35mm f/2.8 could be ideal for those looking for a wider standard zoom.

Sony FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM Lens - Brand New review
(24mm, F2.8, 1/60, ISO 100) As a standard zoom lens, the Sony FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM is certainly top notch. It doesn't have that charisma of the Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 or the Sony 85mm F1.4 GM that you immediately see as soon as you take your first shot.
Pros:
- Excellent image quality Fast, precise and quiet AF Nice handling Great build Constant aperture Weather sealing Super versatile
Cons:
- Steep price tag Ok bokeh Slightly heavy and long

If you want to play a role in the professional (full format) market you have to offer a variety of lenses and at the center of such a system, there's the holy trinity of f/2.8 zoom lenses - a 16-35mm f/2.8, 24-70mm f/2.8 and 70-200mm f/2.8.
