don't waste your time!

Hello everyone, it is all my fault for buying cheep, this lens has a Red outline on the subjects, it gives a sheep look to the picture, this could work for some people if that is the look you are after.

Don't waste your time

I was skeptical when ordering this lens, but ordered it anyway. Shipping and packaging from Adorama is Top Notch as Always!!! The Lens..not so much. Was testing out the lens, a couple times the lens was completely unresponsive on my Sony A65, the autofocus wouldn't respond at all.
Pros:
  • Lightweight
Cons:
  • Blurry Focus
  • Slow Focus

Sony DT 50mm F1.8 SAM

The Sony DT 50mm F1.8 SAM is a small and lightweight short portrait lens that won't break the bank. Sure, build quality isn't that great and it's a little hesitant and very noisy to focus, but overall this 50mm optic reliably delivers excellent results.

Sony 50mm f/1.8 SAM SAL-50F18 review by translucent mirror

The lens would effectively give you a 75mm focal length on a APS-C camera. It gives beautiful colors and sharpness and the bokeh is good too. At f/1.8 it is a relatively fast lens and pretty good for low light photography.
Pros:
  • Cheap
  • light
  • nice bokeh
Cons:
  • for this price
  • none

A good buy... BUT...

I bought this lens because I really wanted a portrait lens with a wide aperture, and I was very excited to get it. But upon buying it, I've noticed that pictures I've taken where my subject is in direct sunlight or is backlit, are subjected to EXTREME color fringing.
Pros:
  • Great depth of field
Cons:
  • Color fringing
