Sony DT 16-105mm f/3.5-5.6 Review
Not many standard zooms extend to focal lengths in excess of 100mm, and the fact that this lens manages such a feat in a package that is no larger than Sony's companion 16-80mm ZA makes it worthy of serious attention.
Pros:
- Good short-end resolution from f/5.6
Cons:
- Poor resolution at longer focal lengths after f/11

My mistake
I thought the autofocus would work with my A7Rii camera with adaptor but I was wrong, I was reimbursed very quickly by them thanks.

very nice lens
I'm just getting used to this lens. I mount it on the sony a65. Previously I've had the 16-50 fixed f-stop. (which I Love) on my a65. The 16-105 is a fast focus and very sharp. It increases the range, and is a well-built lens. I will use it for landscape and possibly portraits.

Solid performance
I bought this lens to go with my Alpha 57, which was stolen, alas. I now use it with an Alpha 65. It gives good performance throughout the range and is good value money. It is an excellent replacement for the kit zoom, giving a step up in image quality. A bit heavy though.

Sony DT 16-105mm f/3.5-5.6
A general purpose 6.5x zoom lens for APS-C sensor Sony and Minolta digital SLR cameras offering a wide-angle equivalent of a 24mm lens on a full-frame camera.
Pros:
- Useful zoom range
- Good build quality
- Good centre resolution at the shorter end of the zoom range
Cons:
- Resolution towards edges of the frame from 50mm onwards
- Barrel distortion at 16mm
- Prone to flare

Sony 16-105mm f/3.5-5.6 DT ( SAL-16105 ) - Review / Test Report
The build quality is fairly similar to the Zeiss ZA 16-80mm f/3.5-4.5 DT (shown to the right in the product image gallery below) - it's decent but nothing to rave about either. The outer shell is made of good quality plastics. The broad, rubberized zoom ring operates smooth but also a little stiff.

A WOW Lens for the price
Overall this lens is my favorite next to the 50mm f/1.4, I take this lens on all my shoots and have used in in most all weather conditions as well as indoor without flash. I find the versatility of this lens remarkable and really the best in class for the price.
