Great all rounder

I've had one of these in the past, which is why I purchased this more up to date version. the features are great the Netflix button is handy too. the simulated 3D is a great feature for non 3D movies as it adds a bit more depth to the image which makes the overall viewing more enjoyable especially...

Buy at your own risk

I just tried to install my newest Sony BDP-S6500 Blu Ray DVD player. I already have an existing BDP-S6500, plus I have a BDP -S3100 and a BDP-S3200 players. All work fine and I really like the S-6500. Unfortunately, I cannot get my new S-6500 to work. It won't connect to my wireless network.

Sony BDP-S6500

The Sony BDP-S6500 Blu-Ray player is a top-quality disk player, using Sony's 4K upscaling chip to deliver rich, detailed video to a UHD TV. It's 3D-capable, includes built-in Wi-Fi and ethernet connections, and also gives you access to Smart TV via the Sony Entertainment Network.

Sony BDP-S6500 Review

In a field like Blu-ray players, versatility is crucial, since single-task devices with basic functionality quickly become obsolete. Here, the Sony BDP-S6500 shows its strengths. Few players come bundled with upscale options like 4K and 3D conversion.

The Sony has premium 4K and 3D playback features

The remote suffers from light design clutter

High quality blu-ray and DVD player

Got a new 4K UHD 55 in Sony TV. Playing DVDs through my old DVD player didn't look as good as Xfinity HD broadcasts. I upgraded to this blu-ray player and the DVDs now look great. Of course playing blu-rays also looks great. The up-scaling done by this blu-ray player really works well.

Compact; Consistent Performance; Easy To Set Up; Easy To Use; High Quality Picture

Sony BDP-S6500

The BDP-S6500 is Sony's range-topping Blu-ray player and the successor to last year's BDP-S6200 . At £150 it's pricier than your average player but it gets you a full set of premium features, including 4K upscaling, built-in super Wi-Fi and network streaming.

Excellent picture quality; Slick; friendly operating system; Plays FLAC and MKV via network

Pedestrian design; Build quality; Missing catch-up TV apps

DO NOT BUY the BDP-6500E

Revision of my previous review - 6 weeks later: When I received this unit, it was defective, I shipped it back to Sony thinking I'd get the same type of unit back... Unfortunately, they don't seem to know what to do w/ the Multi-Region product and shipped me the much cheaper Region A version of the...

Really compact, and great price

This player is tiny, literally about 19inches long and 7 inches wide. It is packed with features, and the picture quality is outstanding. It is really easy to set up too, and connects to the internet quickly.

Sony BDP-S6500 Blu-ray Player

The Sony BDP-S6500 is another excellent Blu-ray disc player able to handle both two and three dimensional Blu-ray discs with no issues whatsoever.

Perfect with Blu-ray; Excellent with DVD; Can detect 24p from streaming services; Good range of app

Questionable whether 4K scaling is of any benefit; Remote feels cheap for flagship product
