I'd have given this product zero stars but there's no way of doing that. Initially, the player wouldn't power up. Somewhere between the 10th and 15th try the power went on. Setup seemed to work well. My first test was to play a CD and that worked. After that, nothing else worked.

I bought. Mainly for the streaming capabilities since I don't purchase cable etc. I use it mainly for hulu Netflix and so on. The picture quality is great and it works great. This is my first smart home device besides having a smart phone and I really find it easy to use and for me it's all I need...

Is it just us or are Blu-ray players getting smaller? The Sony BDP-S5500, the Japanese company's most recent budget deck, comes in at little more than the size of a hardback book, shrinking even further from last year's already dinky S5200.

A very small Blu Ray player about the size of a hardback book.Set up was simple and very quick.The Wi-Fi connected to the network and downloaded software updates rapidly. I was soon watching BBC iPlayer and YouTube.Blu Ray and DVD playback is great.

Screen was 'flashing' on set up, probably my error in not choosing the right screen output settings (was defualt to 1080p, my screen is only 1080i - HD ready, not Full HD).

I bought the sony 5500 over the 4500 as it was WiFi, the problem is the WiFi is a pain to setup, apart from this the 5500 is a excellent blu ray and the 3d is really good, it starts up very fast and is really quite, I would highly recommend this player

I bought this bluray player for my girlfriend, she couldn't be happier with the fact that she can control youtube and nextflix from her iphone. Awesome bluray quality and quicker than most on loading times too.

Recently purchased this sony unit purely for its enhanced wifi capabilities as my intention was to stream Netflix BBCi player etc direct to my TV set downstairs , from my Home PC broadband set up which is situated upstairs in my office.
