Sony Alpha A7R Mark IV review

Apple's latest non-Pro iPhone is superb - it's just that it's strikingly similar to last year's effort.

Still an incredible smartphone, Brilliant battery life gets a bit better, Excellent camera system gets a bit better

Last year’s Pro hardware, Wireless charging slow by modern standards, No USB-C; it’s now well overdue

Sony Alpha A7R Mark IV review

Hannah Stryker / Review Geek The iPhone 14 is the latest iteration of Apple’s flagship device. Since its launch, the iPhone has set the standard of what a smartphone is, what it does, and how it looks. Fifteen years later, it’s still doing that.

Top-notch cameras, Amazing display, Snappy performance, Great battery life

It's just "this year's iPhone"

Sony Alpha A7R Mark IV review

More like an iPhone 13S. The generational upgrades for the iPhone 14 are limited to a few subtle changes. At the same time, however, the base price climbs to 800 USD, while the only true innovation happens inside the iPhone 14 Pro series.

excellent OLED display, dust- and waterproof, fast Wi-Fi, wide range of supported frequencies, great camera, very fast performance, good battery life

display limited to 60 Hz, charging rate limited to 20 watts, no macro lens, wide notch

Sony Alpha A7R Mark IV review

The iPhone 14 isn’t much of an upgrade over the iPhone 13, but it’s still a great device and an upgrade for anyone coming from the iPhone 11 or older.

Great camera, Good battery, Emergency features are cool, Still excellent performance

Display could use some upgrades

Sony Alpha A7R Mark IV review

While it's a shame that picture and sound quality haven't been upgraded, the iPhone 13 was great in these regards and the iPhone 14 is, too Excellent display Admirable headphone performance Solid build quality No upgrades to picture or sound Familiar design Notch is still present

Sony Alpha A7R Mark IV review

The Apple iPhone 14 is no match for the just-released iPhone 14 Pro, but if you ignore that, it’s one of the most effective phones around.

Great cameras, front and back, Fast performance, Good battery life, Innovative safety features

Design too familiar, Some average features

Sony Alpha A7R Mark IV review

If you're looking for a full-frame camera that delivers images which compete against medium format cameras, while also offering the advantages of the most diverse lineup of full-frame lenses on the market and incredibly reliable autofocus, then the A7R IV is the camera to get.

Highest resolution of any full-frame sensor, Impressive overall image quality, Best autofocus in its class, Best feature set in its class, Compact & lightweight VS medium format, Lens selection VS medium format, Best ergonomics in its class/lineage

A7R III is already a very good, class-leading choice, May be less of a value compared to more affordable Sony's, Menus still complex & time-consuming, Buffer clearing still shuts down much of the camera, Ergonomics still have a few quirks

Sony Alpha A7R Mark IV review

In some respects, the Sony A7R IV is the best mirrorless camera available at the moment. Its detail resolution and autofocus system are class-leading, but its price is also staggering.

Superb detail resolution, Excellent autofocus system, High-resolution electronic viewfinder

Limited use made the touch-control, Tilting rather than vari-angle scree, High price
