It was hard to mark the A7R II down for Features & Build. The spec list is fully-fledged and outdoes its DSLR rivals in many areas. We'd have liked to see a secondary SD card slot, but huge capacities are available, so the camera did enough to warrant five stars in this criterion.

Sony ILCE-7RM2 - a7R II

Announced in June 2015, the α7R Mark II introduces the first 36 x 24 mm, back-illuminated CMOS sensor and is Sony's highest resolution E-mount camera to date. With a resolution of 42.4-megapixels, it's a step up from the 36 megapixels in the original α7R , which we reviewed in July 2014.

Sony's a7R Mark II Is The Best High-Res Camera You Can Buy

If you've been using a digital SLR for the last couple of years, you might not have realised just how advanced new cameras have become. And Sony's a7R Mark II is just about the most advanced of them all - apart from one small but surprisingly annoying issue, it's just about the best camera you can...

Sony A7R II

Sony's A7R II 4K mirrorless full-frame camera is a field shooters dream in terms of specs and internal hardware. If you want to take your photography technology to truly spectacular levels, you almost can't do better than the A7R II.

42.4 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor; Backlighting on sensor for superb lowlight shooting; 4K UHD video without pixel binning; Impressive color and dynamic range; Excellent HD video recording; Compatible with A-Mount; E-Mount and Canon lenses; ISO 102,400; Excellent five-axis image stabilization

No touch screen capacity; Selecting focus points is clumsy; Very expensive; No lens included

Sony's take on improving the a7 by combining technologies from their other cameras to create this beautiful hybrid, the Sony a7R II, a palm-sized camera jam packed with features. At first glance, the body of the camera is beautiful, with its orange lens ring that stands out from other cameras.

E-mount; Solid build; Great eye-finder

Battery life; Button placements

Excellent camera

This is a excellent camera and works very well, the focusing is much better than the Sony A7Sii, But the video capabilities are not as good, Also make sure that this model is made for the US and not the European version.

There is a reason this one is the top 35mm camera

I've been shooting with the a7 pretty much from the day it was released and since the A9 was not the specific product for my needs (studio portraiture and some landscapes) the A7Rm2 was the next logical step. Despite my expectations, the camera was a completelly different to the original A7.
